Day 01      Arrive DelhiUpon arrival at Chennai in the evening, you are met, greeted and escorted to the Hotel. You are welcomed in the hotel in a Traditional Indian style onarrival and check into the hotel. Overnight stay is at hotel. 

Day 02:    Delhi After breakfast in the hotel, we leave for city sightseeing tour of Old Delhi & New Delhi. 

Old Delhi came into prominence when Shah Jahan moved his capital from Agra to Delhi. You visit 300 year old Chandni Chowk market. A maze of lanescrowded with shops selling an extraordinary variety of items and food, the noise and crowds are a quintessential part of any Indian market. From hereyou continue to the Jama Masjid or Friday Mosque. This is India's largest mosque designed by Shah Jahan, and was his last architectural legacy.Originally it was called Masjid‐I‐Jahanuma, which means "mosque commanding a view of the world". In complete contrast to the noise and crowds ofOld Delhi, is Raj Ghat, a simple and stunning memorial to Mahatma Gandhi, the main architect of India's independence. You pass through the Red Fortthat dominates this area is the landmark. Built in the mid 17th century by Shah Jahan, it was plundered by the marauding armies of Nadir Shah andlater by British soldiers. 

Afternoon, we take our tour of New Delhi, visit Qutab Minar, the tapering monument begun in 1199 was built to symbolize the supremacy of Islam.This structure was eventually the prototype of all minars or towers in India. Our next stop is Humayun's tomb, built by his senior wife and mother ofEmperor Akbar. This is the earliest example of Mughal architecture in India. It is believed that it was this mausoleum, which inspired Shah Jahan tobuild the Taj Mahal. We drive pass the India Gate, Presidential Palace and Parliament House. We return to hotel for overnight. 

Day 03:    Delhi – Jaipur via Samode (270kms / 05hrs)Upon arrival at Delhi in the evening, you are met, greeted and escorted to the Hotel. You are welcomed in the hotel in a Traditional Indian style onarrival and check into the hotel for overnight. 

Continue drive to Jaipur. Check in at the hotel upon arrival. The evening is at leisure for independent activities. Overnight is at hotel. 

Day 04:      Jaipur After breakfast we leave for excursion to Amber Fort. A major attraction at Amber is the Elephant Ride (subject to availability) all the way up to theFort entrance. This journey on caparisoned elephants is bound to enrich your memories with the Royal lifestyle of the Maharajas and leave you with atruly unforgettable experience. Amber is a classic, romantic Rajasthani Fort Palace. The rugged, time‐ravaged walls of the Fort may not look beautifulfrom the outside, but the interior is a virtual paradise. Miniatures painted on the walls depict hunting and war scenes, apart from festivals. Preciousstones and mirrors are embedded into the plaster. Inside the Fort visit the Jag Mandir or the Hall of Victory. En route to Amber Fort from your hotel,you will have a brief photography stop at Hawa Mahal ‐ the Palace of Winds

In the afternoon, we tour the city of Jaipur. We first visit the Maharaja's city Palace, the former Royal residence part of it converted into a museum. Asmall portion is still used by the Royal family of Jaipur. Built in the style of a fortified campus, the palace covers almost one‐seventh in area of the city.The main entrance leads to the courtyard at the center, which is the Mubarak Mahal. One of the major attractions in the museum is the portion knownas Armoury Museum housing an impressive array of weaponry‐pistols, blunderbusses, flintlocks, swords, rifles and daggers. The royal families of Jaipuronce used most of these weapons. On the first floor is the Textile and Costume Museum, which is the fine example of fabrics and costumes from allover India. 

Later visit the Jantar Mantar, which is the largest stone and marble crafted observatory in the world built by Jai Singh from 1728 to 1734. Situated nearthe gate of the city palace, the observatory has 17 large instruments, many of them still in working condition. We finish our city tour with a walkthrough the busy lanes of the city. Feel like a local as you watch a Bollywood flick at a theatre designed in art deco style. Return to the hotel forovernight stay. 

Day 05:     Jaipur – Agra via Fatehpur Sikri (265 Kms / 05 Hrs)After breakfast drive to Agra en route visit Fatehpur Sikri, located 40 Km from Agra, the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri was built by Emperor Akbar in1569, in honour of the great Saint Sheikh Salim Chisti who blessed Akbar and prophesized the birth of three sons to the heirless Emperor. The emperorused Fatehpur Sikri as his capital and the city was fully occupied for 14 years but slowly became deserted and ruined after Akbar left the city. Scarcityof water was the prime factor for the abandonment of this beautiful city. Visit the remarkably well‐preserved, graceful buildings within the 'Ghost City'including the Jama Masjid, tomb of Salim Chisti, Panch Mahal Palace and other palaces that speak of the grandeur and splendour of the Mughal empireat the height of its power. 

Continue drive to Agra. Check in at the hotel upon arrival. Overnight is at hotel.

Day 06:      AgraAt sunrise, we take our Tonga (Horse Carriage) to the visit the world famous Taj Mahal (Closed on Friday) built by Shah Jahan in 1630 for his queenMumtaz Mahal to enshrine her mortal remains. This architectural marvel is a perfectly proportioned masterpiece fashioned from white marble thatstands testimony to the sill of 20,000 craftsmen brought together from Persia, Turkey, France and Italy and who took 17 year to complete this 'LovePoem in Marble'. 

We return to our hotel for breakfast. Rest of the morning is free for independent activities. 

Afternoon we visit Agra Fort and Itmad –ud – daulah. 

Agra fort, built by Emperor Akbar between 1565 & 1573, reveals the Mughal talent for combining defensive architecture with beauty and design. Thisfort palace was begun by Akbar as a purely defensive citadel and was subsequently completed by two successive generations that added the delicatemosaic and magnificent marble palaces. The fort is the history of Mughal life in Agra and offers a magical view of the Taj Mahal. 

Itmad‐ud daulah, one of the most beautiful of Mughal tombs, stands across the river Yamuna from the Taj Mahal, nearly one and a half kilometers up‐stream. Belonging to the age of Jahangir, it contains cenotaphs of the parents of the powerful Mughal Empress Nurjahan, queen of Jahangir, anexceptional beauty and an astute administrator. Overnight is at hotel. 

Day 07:     Agra – Delhi (204 Kms / 04 hrs) – Varanasi (BY Flight)Morning after breakfast at the hotel, we drive to Delhi. On arrival at Delhi airport you are meet and greeted by VASCO representative and transferredto Delhi airport to board your flight to Varanasi.By Flight 6E 176Depart from Delhi at 16:20 hrs      Arrive Varanasi at 17:40 hrsMeet and greeted by VASCO representative at the Varanasi airport and transferred to the hotel for check in. Overnight is at the hotel. 

Day 08:      Varanasi Early morning today we leave for a boat ride on River Ganges. The western banks of Ganges has a string of Ghats ‐the chain of stonesteps, all built with pavilions, palaces and terraces, most of which are mainly used as Dharamsalas where the pilgrims stay duringtheir visit to the holy city. At dawn, the Ghats are abuzz with activity of the devotees performing their ablutions in the river oroffering prayers to the rising sun and performing other religious rituals. A boat ride along the Ghats gives you vantage views of thisactivity. The sunrise on the Ganges is a soul‐lifting experience. 

We return to our hotel for breakfast. 

After breakfast at the hotel, we drive visit the Vishwanath temple, also called the golden temple because of the gold‐plating on itsroof and drive pass Bharat Mata Mandir and Benaras Hindu University ‐ is a premier Central University and a world class educationalinstitution located in Varanasi. It is regarded as the largest residential university in Asia. The fully‐residential campus has more than 128 independentteaching departments in its 1350 acre campus. 

Afternoon is free. 

In the evening at sunset we leave to witness Aarti Ceremony (collective prayer) and watch the floating oil lamps on the riverGanges. The Ghats and temples are lit with oil‐lamp lights or candles in the evening and people perform prayers. Return to the hotelin the evening for overnight.

Day 09:      Varanasi – Kolkata (BY Flight)Breakfast is at the hotel. Morning is free. 

As we drifts towards to noon you will visit Sarnath, where Lord Buddha preached his first sermon "Maha‐ Dharma‐Chakra Pravartan" (in Buddhistterminology, ‘turned the wheel of the law’) after his enlightenment. Sarnath is one of the richest in Buddhist antiquities ranging in date from the timesof Ashoka down to the 12th century A.D. Ashoka built here the Dharmarajika Stupa and erected a pillar surmounted by the magnificent capital of fouradorsed Lions, which today forms the national emblem of India. Among other structures at Sarnath are the ruins of the brick temple; the DhamekhStupa, adorned with delicate floral carvings; the Chaukhandi Stupa and Mahabodhi Society’s Mulgandha Kuti Vihar Temple. We also visit theArcheological Museum, with an extremely rich collection of Buddhist sculptures comprising of numerous Buddha and Bodhisatva images.

Day 10:      Kolkata ‐ Board CruiseToday morning after breakfast you will transfer to jetty to board the cruise ship RV Bengal Ganga. Lunch is on board. 

Post lunch embark on an Orientation Tour of KOLKATA, which will take us to the Dalhousie Square that houses several Colonial/Heritage monumentslike Writer’s Building, General Post Office, High Court, Raj Bhawan (Governor’s Palace), Town Hall, Council House, Treasury Building and the ReserveBank of India. 

We then visit St. John’s Church and the Victoria Memorial for a photo stop and walk in the gardens. St. John’s Church, originally a cathedral, wasamong the first public buildings erected by the East India Company after Kolkata became the effective capital of British India. It was modeled accordingto the St Martin‐in‐the‐Fields of London. The Victoria Memorial is a grand marble building built during 1906‐1921 in the memory of Queen Victoria(1819–1901). The Memorial lies on the Maidan (grounds) by the bank of the Hooghly River. 

Return to the ship and cast off to Kalna. Our upstream journey towards Kalna sails through the areas where the different European settlers hadestablished their respective East Indian Companies leaving back reminiscence of their settlements during the period of 17th to 19th century. Overnightis on board RV Bengal Ganga. 

Day 11:      Kalna – MatiariMorning we ride Cycle Rickshaws to visit the enchanting Rajbari Temple Complex in KALNA. The temples of Kalna take elements from mosques andtemple architecture to create a new congregational space of worship. On one side of the road lies the Nabakailas Temples. Built in 1809 by theBardhaman Maharaja, it contains 108 'aat‐chala' or “eight slope‐roofed” Shiva temples arranged in two concentric circles. The outer circle consists of74 temples of alternate black and white lingams; while the 34 temples of the inner circle have only white lingams. On the other side of the road lies awalled complex, containing the most diversified form of Bengal’s temple architecture: Pratapeshwar Temple, contains terra cotta plaques depictingthemes of Hindu epics and mythical life of saints, gods & goddesses and various aspects of day‐to‐day life. The other notable temples here are the Laljitemple, Krishnachandra temple and the flat roofed temple of Giri Govardhan. 

Return to the ship and cruise towards Matiari, arriving by the evening and moor for the night. Overnight on board RV Bengal Ganga 

Day 12:      Sail Matiari – MurshidabadEarly in the morning we will visit the village of MATIARI, which is famous for its work in brass and copper. Here copper is still processed manually. Theunique character of the area is that as we start walking towards the village, we can hear loud noises of beating metal coming from all the houses. Strollin the village and visit some homes to see and experience the different process of the brass making with a chance of buying artifacts and souvenirs. 

Return to the ship, cast off and cruise towards Murshidabad sailing past Plassey, which is well known for the battle that took place in 1757 that turnedthe history of India. The battlefield of Plassey is where Robert Clive of British East India Company defeated the Mogul Nawab, the then ruler of Bengaland his French Allies; establishing the company rule in India which expanded over much of South Asia for the next 190 years. 

Arrive at Murshidabad and moor for the night.Overnight on board RV Bengal Ganga 

Day 13:      Sail Murshidabad – JangipurMorning excursion of the historic town of MURSHIDABAD. We ride the local Tonga (horse cart) to visit the oldest mosque of this town the KatraMosque built by the first Nawab of Murshidabad, Nawab Murshid Quli Khan in the year 1724‐25. From there we ride the Tonga to the HazarduariPalace Museum. Built during the reign of Nawab Nazim Humayun Jah (1824‐1838 AD) by an English architect, Duncan McLeod following the Greek“Doric” style. The palace has more than a thousand real and false doors in the vast corridors. Inside the palace museum one can observe a widecollection of antiquities including various kinds of weapons, oil paintings of Dutch, French and Italian artists, marble, porcelain & stucco statues, aremanuscripts and palanquins mostly belonging to the 18th‐19th centuries. Opposite to the Palace is the vast Imambara open only during the religiousceremony time. 

Return to the ship and sail onwards to Jangipur and moor for the night. Overnight on board RV Bengal Ganga 

Day 14:      Disembark Jangipur – Train to Kolkata – Delhi (BY Flight) – Home Early this morning disembark the ship with packed snack boxes and transfer to Jangipur train station to board train to Kolkata: Train Intercity Express,07:40 – 12:50 hrs
