NHHS School Counseling Newsletter September- October 2018 North Hagerstown School Counseling Newsletter September- October Issue A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL: JAMES ALESHIRE I would like to welcome everyone the 18-19 school year. This year we will be in the second year of implementation of our International Baccalureate Career- related Programme. This program is an extension of our International Baccalureate Diploma Programme-which has been in our school for 13 years. As we continue to develop programs and options for our students we would also like to announce that we are working with Northern Middle School to become a Middle Years Programme (MYP) school as well. This program would run from grades 6-10 and you will be hearing a lot about this program over the next year at both schools as we work to meet certification to become an approved school. I also want to give a shout out to our AVID program for students in grades 9- 12. This program continues to strengthen and support first generation college students with their quest in applying to and attending college. Another great program that continues to support our students is the 9 th Grade Academy –I could not be prouder of a program that supports incoming 9 th graders and their success during their critical freshman year of high school. All of these programs, as well as our Career Technology programs are how we find a place for each student during their 4 years.
