NORTH FERRISBURGH UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
Our Mission trips and youth activities benefit many. For several years, Hannah Hatch, Matt Becker and Max Simko went on Mission trips. They went to Mississippi for Katrina recovery and many UM ARMY trips. Now Hannah and Matt are freshmen in college, and Max is a sophomore. We invited all our current college kids to share about college with the youth at the Lock–In we held Dec. 21st. Matt even stayed the whole night. It was great to see them. They are all doing well in college, and they all added a lot to the Lock–In. When I thanked Max Simko, she gave me
permission to share this, “I'm so glad [to have been invited]! I love having you all in my life, it is so fulfilling, and gives me something special to look forward to. Thank you for the opportunity!”! One goal we have as a church family is to receive feedback like Max’s in response to any opportunity to serve. We hope all will find that in giving, they are blessed. When we give time, talent, or treasure then meaningful, faith-filled relationships and love result!
Grace and Peace,Kim

Christmas Eve Offering: The church received over $3,100! This means that we can immediately send $1,000 to support Jeremias Franca, our missionary in Mozambique. The rest will help us cover our first mile Mission Share giving. Thanks to all!IRAs and donations: Because of change in the law, we received a significant gift from a member’s IRA in 2016. On December 18 the President signed into law legislation that retroactively extends the charitable IRA rollover for 2015 and makes this provision permanent. A total of up to $100,000 can be transferred directly from traditional or Roth
IRAs to one or more qualified charities such as NFUMC free from federal income tax each year. There may also be state income or other tax savings. Amounts given in this way count toward required IRA minimum withdrawal (MRD) amounts for the year of the gift.To make such gifts, it is important to not withdraw funds prior to a gift, but have the gift amount distributed directly from an IRA to one or more qualified charities. Check with the Finance Committee, your IRA administrator, and/or your tax advisor for more information.
