Welcome

North Country School’s International Sum-mer School (ISS) welcomes students ages 10-14 from July 5 to August 17 for English language and American culture immer-sion. Two sessions, each three weeks long, offer experiential language instruction in the morning and enriching activities and excursions in the afternoon. Our experienced teachers, small size and campus offerings provide an exceptional opportunity to im-prove language profi ciency and experience memorable summertime activities.

Our Program

ISS is designed around individual language needs within small group instruction. Summer students engage in projects and activities that require them to utilize their rapidly developingEnglish language skills. Summer students become profi cient speakers, readers and writers. We carefully balance academics and recreation to ensure that language learning is enjoyable and applicable. Parents enjoy following their child’s activities at North Country School online via the ISS blog.

Language Instruction

Our teachers have high expectations for their students and employ a variety of teaching methods, hands-on projects and innovative uses of technology.

• Certifi ed ESL teachers

• Students build fl uency in speaking, reading and writing

• Integrated classroom technology – Google Chromebooks

• Small group instruction – fi ve to seven students per class

• 3 hours of instruction in the morning plus a 1½ hour study hall

• Curriculum integrates American cultural studies

Our School

North Country School is a 75-year old junior boarding and day school with a proud tradition of educating an internationally diverse group of students. During the school year, we wel-come 90 students from the U.S. and 8 foreign countries. Our graduates attend both U.S. and international boarding and day schools. International Summer School is an extension of the academic year. We take full advantage of the school resources – campus and faculty.

Recreation and Excursions

Our pristine mountain campus – with itsextensive wilderness, farm, garden and lake-front – provides endless opportunities forenjoyment and exploration. In addition, students and their teachers spend two after-noons each week visiting area attractions.

Our Schedule

The International Summer School schedule is designed to balance intensive language in-struction with enjoyable and enriching recre-ation. Weekends allow for longer excursions and community projects.

ISS Program Details

• International students ages 10-14

• Tuition: $5,000 per session Includes transportation to and from JFK International Airport and health insurance
