Dear participants and audiences,

The Malmö Academy of Music welcomes you warmly to the 7th Nordic Piano Competition.

The aim of the Nordic Piano Competition in Malmö is to focus on the art of piano playing, the instrument and its rich repertoire, to enable young pianists to win prizes such as a Blüthner grand, performances and grants as well as to inspire music lovers to play the piano on all levels and to enrich audiences with musical culture.

Since the beginning in 2002 the Nordic Piano Competition in Malmö has developed into a major piano competition, well-known for high artistic levels and friendly atmosphere, its international board of jury members and the well-equipped facilities at the Malmö Academy of Music. During the 12 years the Nordic Piano Competition in Malmö has proved to be a major step in the careers of many young pianists.

An international board of excellent members of the Jury contributes with concerts and lectures and gives the Competition a sense of festival, inspiring and ensuring the ongoing development of musical culture and communication.

The audience has the possibility to hear many breathtaking performances and to follow the Nordic Piano Competition from the beginning to the end is a true artistic adventure.

The Nordic Piano Competition in Malmö is open for piano students at the Academies of Music in the Northern Countries, the Baltic Countries, in Gdansk, Rostock, Amsterdam, The Hague and Brussels.

Marianne Jacobs Marianne Jacobs received her professional education at the Royal Academies of The Hague and Stockholm where she obtained her master´s degrees in Performance and Education. At the Royal Academy of Music in Brussels she received the First Prize in chamber music.

She also studied solo repertoire with Rudolf Firkusny, Jacques Février, Maria Curcio and chamber music with Andras Mihály.

After well-received début concerts in The Hague and Stockholm her career took off with concert tours as soloist with orchestra and recitalist in the Scandinavian, Baltic and European countries, Russia, Armenia, Georgia, Azerbadjan, Brazil, Mexico, USA, Canada, Japan and China.

Marianne Jacobs has made numerous TV and radio recordings, became the Artist of the Week, participated in documentation of Swedish contemporary music, film music for ”Fanny and Alexander” with director Ingmar Bergman and has given many master-classes around the world.

Summercourses, festivals, masterclasses and projects are continuously part of her life.Marianne Jacobs was president of EPTA Sweden 2006-2009.

Hans Pålsson Hans Pålsson was born in Sweden and received his professional education with prof. Robert Riefling in Oslo and Copenhagen and with prof. Hans Leygraf in Hannover. Winning First Prize of the national piano competition, his career took off and he has performed in more than 20 countries with conductors like Rafael Frübeck de Burgos, Evgenij Svetlanov, Sixten Ehrling, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Okko Kamu, Neeme Järvi, Jukka-Pekka Saraste, Mario Venzago and Paavo Berglund.

More than 60 pianoworks have been dedicated to him, and he has made many records and TV programmes. He has received many prizes and awards as well as the Royal Medal Litteris et Artibus and he is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music.

Hans Pålsson is professor at the Academy of Music in Malmö and many of his students are winners of international piano competitions in Europe and USA.

Jin Tang Jin Tang received her professional education at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, where she studied with prof. Zheng Shuxing.

For her master’s degree she studied at the Mozarteum in Salzburg with H. Neuhaus disciple prof. Alexei Lubimov. Jin Tang completed her academic studies with an Artist Degree at the Academy of Music in Hannover, with prof. Markus Groh.

Masterclasses with Jacques Rouvier, Karl-Heinz Kaemmerling, Dmitri Bashkirov, Andrzej Jasinski and Adam Harasiewicz complete the picture.

Jin Tang has won top grants from the Austrian Government and won prizes in inter-national competitions in China, Germany and Japan.

Jin Tang enjoys a busy concert schedule with many artistic projects, such as the perfor-mances of the concertos by Mozart on modern instrument as well as clavichord with the Salzburg-München Symphony Orchestra, ”Dialogue- Contemporary and Classical” and ”Painting Sets of Piano Music in the first part of the 20th Century” with which she has toured all around Germany, China and the USA.

Through her keen interest in wide-ranging repertoire and interest in arts, Radio Shanghai has hosted special programmes with her ”Classical Music Time”. TV as well as magazines have covered all her events at the major venues.

Jin Tang is Ass. Prof. at the Shanghai Conservatory and is regularly invited to serve as judge at competitions in Germany and China.

Martin Sturfält Martin Sturfält received his professional education at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm with prof. Esther Bodin-Karpe and prof. Stefan Bojsten. He completed his studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London where his principal teachers were Paul Roberts and Ronan O´Hora.

Martin Sturfält enjoys a busy international career as a concerto solist and recitalist and is also a passionate chamber musician. He has performed extensively throughout Scandinavia, UK and Europe as well as in Asia and the USA. Highlights in recent years have included concerts at major venues such as London´s Purcell Room, Barbican Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Wigmore Hall, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Palais des Beaux-Arts Brussels.

Martin Sturfält has appeared with Hallé Orchestra Manchester, Royal Stockholm Phil harmonic and Swedish Radio orchestra, collaborating with conductors such as Sir Mark Elder, Andrew Manze and Alexander Vedernikov. His appearances have been broadcast throughout Europe and the USA and he has made frequent TV appearances.His highly praised CD début of Wilhelm Stenhammar piano works was released by Hyperion Records in 2008.

Martin Sturfält has had considerable success in piano competitions, winning both Swedish and UK Yamaha competitions, 2002 Nordic Piano Competition Malmö/NPCM, 2004 John Ogdon Prize and 2005 Terence Judd Award.

Antonio di Cristofano Antonio di Cristofano received his professional education at the Conservatory ”L. Cherubini” in Florence under the guidance of prof. Antonio Baccheli and prof. Massimiliano Damerini.

He has performed extensively as soloist with orchestra and recitalist all over Italy and abroad in major venues in Europe, Israel, Brazil, Mexico, USA and Canada such as Hall Smetana and Dvorak Hall in Prague, Chopin Society in Warsaw, Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto, Newman Center in Denver, Nancyphonies in France, Hall of Tchaikowsky Conservatory in Moscow, Palacio de Bellas Artes en Revueltas Auditorium in Mexico City.

He has performed with Radio Bucharest Symphony Orchestra, State Symphony Orchestra of Mexico, Istanbul Chamber Orchestra, Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, North Czech Philharmonic, Sinfonia Toronto, Philharmonique de Montreal, Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and Slowak Philharmonic.

After making his début with great success in Weill Hall in New York he has recently performed in Isaac Stern Auditorium in Carnegie Hall with New England Symphony. Of considerable prestige was his concert in the Great Hall of the Konzerthaus in Vienna with the Vienna Mozart Orchestra. It was followed with a concert in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein.

He has given masterclasses at many universities in the USA, in Korea, and at the Tchaikowsky Conservatory in Moscow.

Antonio Di Cristofano has recorded for the Velut Moon company with flutist Enzo Caroli, a monographic CD of Schubert and a solo CD with pianomusic by Berg, Brahms and Scriabin.

Antonio Di Cristofano serves as judge on international piano competitions all over the world.

He recently received the Rotary Club Award for Culture Paul Harrys Fellows.

Inga Vyšniauskaitė Inga Vyšniauskait got Art Licentiate degree as a soloist 2010 (prof. Veronika Vitaite and accompaniment prof. Irena Armonien ) at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. In 2004-2005 she studied with prof. C. Tanski at Salzburg Mozarteum University.

She is a winner of International Competitions in Lithuania, France, Italy, Denmark, Ukraine. In 2007 she won Diploma at the International M. K. iurlionis Piano and Organ Competition. In 2009 she was awarded special prize and Diploma as the best accompanist at International Compe-tition for Violin in Germany. She gives concerts as a soloist, accompanist, and as a chamber musician.

At present she is the Head of Piano Department at the M. K. iurlionis National School of Arts and works as accompanist at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.

Iveta Calite Iveta Calite (1988) was born in Riga, Latvia. She started playing the piano at the age of 8. After graduating from Emils Darzins music school in Riga, Iveta moved to Paris to study at Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris Alfred Cortot under the guidance of prof. Jean Marc Luisada. Since 2012 she is studying at Royal College of Music in Stockholm with prof. Stefan Bojsten. Currently she has started her masters degree. Iveta has participated in many festivals and masterclasses with renowned pianists such as Paul Roberts, Jussi Siirala, Anne Oland, Vera Nosina and others. She has won prizes in competitions in Latvia, France and Lithuania.

Pontus Carron Pontus Carron was born in 1993 in Stockholm. When he was 8 years old, he started to play the piano and later on he joined the Södra Latin School music programme, studying with Ann-Sofi Klingberg for three years. At the age of 18 Pontus Carron was accepted at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm where he is now studying with prof. Stefan Bojsten. He has participated in masterclasses with pianists such as Konstantin Bogino, Roland Pöntinen, Angela Hewitt, Mats Widlund and Patrizio Cerrone.In May 2012 he performed Beethoven Piano Concerto no. 3 in Stockholm and Flensburg, Germany, with the school orchestra.

Ernst Erlanson The Swedish pianist Ernst Erlanson was born in Umeå 1992. His first piano teacher was Birgit Lindberg. From 2011 he studied at Birkagårdens folkhögskola with Italian pianist Massimo Broggio who carries the tradition of Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli. Currently he is studying at musikhög-skolan Ingesund in the piano class of Prof. Julia Mustonen-Dahlkvist. During his studies in Stockholm he actively performed in the various concert stages as a soloist, chamber musician and collaborative pianist. The season 2014-2015 will include concert tours in Norway, Latvia, Iceland and Finland. It will also include several solo recitals at Karlstad University. He has participated in master classes with pianists like Per Tengstrand and Bengt Forsberg.

Tatu Eskelinen Tatu Eskelinen was born in 1993, in Joensuu, Finland, and began his piano studies at the age of 5. He studied at Joensuu Conservatory with Anitta Hirvikangas and Otto Korhonen as his teachers, and was also taught by Jaakko Untamala. Since 2013 he has been studying at Sibelius Academy, Helsinki, with Jussi Siirala. Tatu has participated in master classes and summer courses with Erik T. Tawaststjerna, Konstantin Bogino, Paavali Jumppanen and Janne Mertanen among others. In 2011 Tatu was awarded 2nd prize at Kuopio Piano Competition, and in 2013 he won the 1st prize at the Competition for Young Soloists of North Karelia, accompanied by Joensuu City Orchestra in the final round. In 2014 he performed Mozart’s Piano Concerto in D minor both in Joensuu and Petrozavodsk, Russia.

Leo Gavel Leo was born 1993 in Stockholm. When he was 9 years old he started playing the piano and for a number of years he had lessons at the Culture School in Stockholm as well as private lessons. When he was 19 he was accepted to the Royal College of Music in Stockholm where he studies with prof. Stefan Bojsten. He has participated in masterclasses with Per Tengstrand, at the EPTA International Piano Week in Ollerup, the Gothenburg Piano Festival, in the The Sound of Lempäälä festival, and the summer course Aurora Masterclasses at Edsberg Manor.

Arkadiusz Godziński Arkadiusz Godzi ski was born in Grudzi dz, Poland, in 1992 and began his piano studies at the age of 7. He is a student of Waldemar Wojtal at the Academy of Music in Gda sk. In 2014 he received bachelors degree and currently he started a masters program. He has won prizes and distinc-tions in national and international piano music competitions, including in Cracow, Paris, Gda sk and Lviv. He was a finalist in the 45th National Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw and received II prize in 18th International Piano Festival in Nał czów. He has taken part in many master-classes, given by Krzysztof Jabło ski, Andrzej Jasi ski, Katarzyna Popowa-Zydro , Ewa Pobłocka, Dina Yoffe, Lee Kum Sing, Alexei Orlovetsky, Ivan Klansky and others.

Hugo Sellés González Born in Santander in 1988, Hugo began his musical studies at the age of six and completed his Bachelor of Music in 2010 at Musikene in San Sebastián, with scholarships from the Fundación Botín of Santander. He studied piano with Marta Zabaleta and contemporary repertoire with Ricardo Descalzo. His awards include First Prize at the VIII Chamber Music Contest Rotary-Sardinero and performances include the IX Musika Festival at Euskalduna Jauregia in Bilbao, the 62nd International Festival of Santander and the Bach/Mozart Festival at Tivoli Koncertsal in Copenhagen. Hugo has performed in master classes with Claudio Martínez Mehner, Ferenc Rados, Josep M. Colom, Boris Berman, Paul Badura-Skoda and Jeffrey Swann. Hugo is currently studying his Masters at the Royal Danish Academy of Music.

Kristoffer Mikael Gylling Born in Helsinki, Finland 1994 Kristoffer started to play the piano at the age of 4. Private lessons 1998-2004 with Meri Louhos and later with Svetlana Izmailova. From 2004-06 at the Sibelius Academy youth department with Hui-Ying Liu-Tawaststjerna and 2006-13 with Hamsa Juris. Now he studies since 2013 at Sibelius Academy University (University of the Arts Helsinki) with Hamsa Juris. Kristoffer has attended Master classes with Dmitri Bashkirov, Vitali Berzon, Alexander Sandler. Prizes: 2001, 3rd prize, Vladimir Vavilov international piano competition for youth (Kosto-mu ksha, Russia). 2008, 1st prize, EMCY Chopin International piano competition (Narva, Estonia). 2006, 2009, 2012 Prizewinner, local Helmi Vesa piano competition (Helsinki, Finland).

Daniel Hormazábal Daniel Hormazábal (b.1988) recently graduated from KMH/Edsberg Manor’s master programme where he has worked with Prof. Mats Widlund. Other mentors and teachers have been Prof. Stefan Bojsten at KMH, Ann Sofi Klingberg at Södra Latins Gymnasium as well as Marta Huici, who gave Daniel his first piano lessons in 1999. Daniel , who now continues advanced studies at KMH/Edsberg, has also participated in several master classes with world renowned teachers and pianists such as: Martin Roscoe, Konstantin Bogino, Jerome Lowenthal and Leif Ove Andsnes. In the last few years Daniel has performed both as soloist and chamber musician, not only in Sweden but in several European countries as well as Canada and the US.

Justas Stasevskij Justas Stasevskij was born in 1989 and began his studies at the age of 7 in Tampere Conservatory. From 2004 he started his studies at the Sibelius Academy junior department with prof. Erik T. Tawaststjerna, and from 2009 he continued with his degree studies first with Teppo Koivisto and with Antti Siirala, with whom he is still continuing solo-studies. Since 2011 Justas studies also chamber music with prof. Avedis Kouyoumdjian at the University for Music and Performing Arts (MdW) in Vienna. Justas has been awarded in many national competitions in Finland, and he won a soloist-audition to play Ravels left hand concerto with Sibelius Academy symphony orchestra in Music House in May 2013. Justas has finished his bachelor studies with excelent degrees.

Marina Kan Marina Kan was born in 1989 in Moscow. At the age of 6 she began to play the piano, and in 2007 she finished Central Music School with teacher Natalia Bogdanova. She continued to study at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Music Conservatory with final exams in 2013 with top scores in all disciplines. Teacher was professor Alexander Mndoyants. Marina Kan now studies with professor Aquiles Delle Vigne in Coimbra, Portugal. She has lived as residence of Norway since 2008, and attends the Master Study of Norwegian Music Academy in Oslo from autumn 2014 under professor Jens Harald Bratlie. She has given recitals and performed as a soloist with orchestras in Italy, France, Germany, Portugal, Jersey, Norway, Lithuania, Denmark, Finland, Armenia and Russia.

Henrik Kilhamn Henrik Kilhamn, born 1988, received his first piano lessons at the age of 6. He has studied with Bernt Wilhelmsson at the Academy of Music and Drama in his hometown Gothenburg on the Bachelor program and now on the Master program. In 2005 he was awarded first prize in Kävlinge Musik-mästerskap and in 2012 he won the prestigious scholarship John Andersson i Anderslöv. Through the years Henrik has attended masterclasses for among others Hans Pålsson, Mats Widlund, Mats Jansson, Fabio Bidini, Paul Roberts and Charles Owen. He has participated in Aurora chamber music festival several times as well as Ambialet piano summer course in France. Henrik performs extensively – he has played with Newcastle Sinfonietta and Vägus orchestras and in 2014 he performed at Lagrasse Piano Festival, France.

Emma-Johanna Koponen Emma-Johanna Koponen was born in Kuopio, Finland, in 1994. She started playing piano at the age of 6 with Mia Muona as her teacher. She studied at the conservatory of Kuopio first with Ella Untamala and then with Katariina Liimatainen. Now Koponen is studying at Sibelius Academy with Jussi Siirala. She has won the second prize twice in Kuopio piano competition in 2005 and 2008 and the first prize in 2011 in her own serie. She has also took part in Leevi Madetoja piano competition in 2009 and 2012. As teachers in master classes has been Liisa Pohjola, Tuija Hakkila and Heni Sigfidsson among others. Koponen has performed as a soloist with the school orchestra in Kuopio in 2010 and with Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra in 2013 and with Kuopio Symphony Orchestra in 2014.

Jacob Lidåkra Jacob started to play piano when he was nine years old. He studied at Södra Latins gymnasium and the Royal College of Music in Stockholm for Stefan Bojsten and is now pursuing his masters degree at the Sibelius Academy under the guidance of Liisa Pohjola. Jacob has performed in numerous european countries such as Czech Republic, France and England, and he has also been a recurring artist and scholarship holder at The International Holland Music Sessions. He has attended master-classes with Fabio Bidini, Angela Hewitt and Matti Raekallio and he has also been cooperating with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Norrköping Symphony Orchestra. Jacob has received numerous scholarships and has won second prize at the Stockholm International Music Competition.

Kirill Lissijenko Kirill Lissijenko finished his studies at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in 2010 (prof. Lilian Semper, Irina Zahharenkova, Age Juurikas). Presently he studies, as a master’s degree student, with Hui-Ying Liu-Tawaststjerna at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. In addition, Kirill has attended master classes of Dr. Tamas Ungar, Rolf Plagge, Cyprien Katsaris. Kirill has participated with success in piano competitions such the ”Helm Valtman”, and the ”Con Brio” in Tallinn. Lissijenko performs often in Estonia and Finland. He has collaborated with two well-known singers, Maria Varetenina and Nadia Kurem. Most recently he performed with the EMTA symphony orchestra conducted by Paul Mägi.

Ayane Matsuura Ayane Matsuura was born in 1987 in Japan. She started piano lessons in 1992. From 2007 she studied at the Tokyo College of Music with Y. Sekine and K. Ishii, graduated with Bachelor’s degree in 2011. In 2012 she got stipend at the Suolahti Inter-national Music Festival in Finland, where she played a special recital in June 2013. In 2013, she got diploma and special prize for the best performance of a compulsory piece at J zeps V tols International Piano Competition in Latvia. In 2014, she got 3rd prize at Stasys Vaini nas International Piano Competition in Lithuania. She has joined master classes with P. Efler, H. Barda, A. Queffélec, M. Voskresenski, A. Ebi, J. Margulis, D. Pascal, and so on. She has played many recitals. She is currently studying at the Sibelius Academy with Erik T. Tawaststjerna.

Filip Michalak Filip Michalak was born in 1994 in Aalborg, Denmark. He started playing the piano when he was 8 years old. At the age of 14, he got accepted into the MGK program at Aalborg Kulturskole. In 2013 he decided to continue his musical education at The Royal Danish Music Conservatory in Copenhagen, where he is currently a 2nd year BA student, majoring in piano. He has participated in various piano and music competitions in Denmark and abroad. Just to mention a few, he was awarded the 2nd price in the Steinway Piano Festival in 2006, and the 1st prize in ”Nordjyllands Talentkonkurrence”. During his career, he has attended several master classes with well-known pianists, among others in July 2014 with maestro Mikhail Voskresensky from Moscow. Filip is also an active concert pianist.

Michał Mossakowski Michal Mossakowski started playing the piano at the age 14. He graduated summa cum laude from high scholl in Gdansk. He has been studying in the class of Professor Włodzimierz Wiesztordt in Academy of Music in Gda sk. He is a participant and a winner of many all-Poland as well as interna-tional contests. Is spite of a young age, he has already performed many recitals and concerts in Germany, France, Russia and China. In 2013 he played at the Summer Music Festival in Moscow. In 2014 played ten concerts in China, performing there Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1. There has recorded for Chinese television. He has already given concerts with many different orchestras performing the concerts of Chopin, Mozart and Rachmaninov. He also played on the courses conducted by D. Yoffe, A. Stian Alexander Olsen Stian Alexander Olsen is a norwegian pianist born in 1991. He started playing the piano at the age of 10. He is currently studying at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo with professors Einar Steen-Nøkleberg and Jens-Harald Bratlie. He has attended many masterclasses, with pianists like Jan Jiracek von Arnim, Eduard Kunz, Fabio Bidini, Wolfgang Watzinger and Oxana Yablonskaya. Stian Alexander was in 2011 in the finals of the norwegian music competition Toneprisen, where he received the audience prize.

Per Olsson Per Olsson is born 1990 in Örnsköldsvik. He started his pianostudies at the age of 10 and has since studied at Framnäs Folkhögskola for Ulla-Britt Sandlund and at Musikhögskolan Ingesund in the class of Prof. Julia Mustonen-Dahlkvist, where he also is an administrative assistent. He often plays solo recitals, some of them critically acclaimed. Per is also an passionated chamber musician who does recitals on a regular basis with many different constelations. During the year of 2012 he won first prize at RUM Duo piano competition with first price concert at Västerås Konserthus and also at Carlscrona chamber music festival. Per has played master classes for pianists such as Per Tengstrand, Marianne Jacobs, Helge Kjekshus and Juris Zvikovs.

Zane Rubesa Zane Rubesa, born in Riga, started playing piano at the age of seven. Till the 2011, she studied in Jelgava Secondary Music school under Silvija Audre. Upon graduation, Zane entered J zeps V tols Latvian Academy of Music, where she continues her musical studies in the class of Arnis Zandmanis.In 2010, Zane took a part in Eastern Music festival and summer school in Greensboro, the USA, but in 2013- in international artistic exchange project of music academies of Baltic States and Sibelius academy ”Crossing Keyboards”. Alfredo Salvador Figueroa The cuban pianist Alfredo Salvador started his piano studies at the age of 5 at the Havana’s school for gifted children with teachers from Tchaikovsky conservatoire. Daniel Seng Daniel Seng, born in Wuppertal, Germany, in 1988, got his first piano lessons at the age of 5. With 16 he was admitted as a young student at the university of Cologne, where he studied by prof. J. A. Scherrer. In this period he won a first prize in the competition „Jugend Musiziert“. After this he studied with prof. G. Iwanzowa at the Academy of Music “Hanns Eisler” in Berlin, where he finished his diploma degree with the highest possible distin-ction. In 2012, he started his Master’s degree in Rostock and now studies with prof. M. Kirschnereit and prof. B. Zack. In 2010 he won a third prize in the int. ’Rosario Marciano’ competition in Vienna. In February 2014 he won the first prize in the compe-tition ”Ung Klassisk” in Norway. He has played in many masterclasses, including by Lang Lang.

Kalle Stenbäcken Kalle Stenbäcken was born 1988 in Gothenburg, Sweden. He started to play piano continuously in his early teenage years. His professional studies started in 2007 at the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg. He took his bachelor exam in 2012 after a two year break for pianostudies at Vadstena folkhögskola 2008-10. He’ll take master exam 2014. Kalle has performed continuously through these years. In 2013 he gave a recital at the Swedish house in Paris with a grande programme including Liszt B minor sonata. Same year he performed Mozart’s 23rd piano concerto with the ”Oscar Frediks Church Sinfonietta”Kalle performed at Gothenburg Piano festival 2014 and will play Gershwin’s Rapsody in Blue with Gothenburg’s musikkår and Mozart’s 23rd with Uddevalla Chamber Orchestra during the autumn.

Filip Strauch Filip Strauch (1985, Zilina, Slovakia) belongs among the most talented Slovakian pianists of his generation. After the graduation from the University in Slovakia in 2012 he were admitted in 2013 for the advanced post graduate programme-soloist class at The Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen, Denmark. Simultaneously with his Danish studies, Filip won a scholarship for a special training course at The Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in Saint Petersburg, Russia, where has been studying with well-known Russian pianists and teachers Vladimir Shakin and Sergey Maltsev. Filip began playing the piano at a very early age, under the guidance of his pianist father. In 2004 he received the medal for repre-senting the school. In 2005 he started his studies at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava.

Jussi Tiainen Jussi Tiainen was born in Pori in 1987. He started playing the piano in 2000 in the Palmgren Conser-vatory in Pori. In 2003 he was accepted in Sibelius Academy’s Youth Department and in 2006 he began his Bachelor studies in Sibelius Academy’s Department of Music Performance. He has studied with prof. Liisa Pohjola, Tuija Hakkila, Juhani Lagerspetz and currently Hanna Aho-Oikkonen. He has also studied (masterclasses and privately) with Matti Raekallio, Alberto Nosé, Teppo Koivisto, Anders Killström, Risto Kyrö and Joonas Pohjonen. In 2003 Jussi won the third prize in the Leevi Madetoja piano competition. He has also partici-pated in the Jyväskylä piano competition (2004) and Helmi Vesa piano competition (2005). He has performed in Finland as soloist, lied pianist and chamber musician.
