The combined distance is 10.8 km (6.7 mi) each way. The trailhead is at the Nordic Center. Elevation gain: 1870’ (base elev: 3905’; Summit elev. 5775’). Average grade: 5.2% (for every 100 feet skied forward, you gain 5.2 feet of elevation). The first leg is on one of the ski area’s green-circle easy trails. Stay on the right side and watch for downhill skiers exiting Sunrise Basin. Beyond the quad chairlift traffic thins out. The trail now heads east up to Moose Track Corner. Here you’ll leave the ski area boundary and head west through five clear cuts. This stretch is generally flat and easy with many views across the valley. The final leg up the Summit Trail is rated most difficult. Navigation can be sketchy if no tracks are visible. Use the Summit Trail only when groomed or check-in with the Nordic Center before proceeding. Excellent views exist at the top, however there is no food, water, or shelter facilities. Ski Patrol is located at the Base Lodge and the top of Chair 1. If you prefer to ski the route downhill, single ride lift tickets are only $10. At the top of the lift, bear left and look for the trail behind the boundary ropes.
