WHEN DO I PAY?

The school’s budget is formulated on the presumption that hire charges will be paid by 31 January 2020. Thus resources are ordered and payment committed at the beginning of the school year. If you wish to join the scheme you are required to complete the Participation Agreement Form. Please read the terms and conditions on the back of the form, noting that this is a generic Education Queensland form for all Queensland primary and secondary schools. The form is to be returned to the school office immediately to enable access to school resources. Discounts will be offered until 30 November 2019, alternatively full payment due by 31 January 2020. Parents/Guardians experiencing financial hardship should contact the Business Manager or School Principal to discuss the Scheme further. WILL I BE ASKED TO PAY MORE?

Extra-curricular inclusions and excursions are not included in the Scheme. You will be notified of such things via consent forms sent home and through the newsletter. Arts Council events, individual State competitions, structured work placement or work experience, school camps, local area excursions, ski trips etc. are examples of such activities. WHAT IF I LEAVE? Students who leave during the school year can apply for a pro rata refund of their Scheme payment (refer Note 37 overleaf of Student Resource Scheme form). A refund request form must be completed to obtain this refund – available from Finance

Office. This is calculated on a forty-week school year. WHAT IF I DON’T WANT TO JOIN THE SCHEME?

If you choose not to participate in the Student Resource Scheme, you will have to supply all books and resources used by your student. This list is available from the school, including costs (refer Note 12 overleaf of Student Resource Scheme form). A

parent/carer who does not wish to participate in the Resource Scheme shall inform the school by completing the “No” section on the Participation Agreement Form and returning it to the Administration Office. Arrangements will then be made to evaluate the contribution still required as per student’s courses. A parent/carer who chooses not to participate in the scheme is responsible for providing the student with all items that would otherwise be provided to the student by the scheme as detailed on the Text Book Lists for each year level, to enable the student to engage with the curriculum. You would still have to pay a fee to cover the supply of some sporting equipment, technology, consumables and other resources funded by the Student Resource Scheme.

SELECTION OF STUDENTS FOR EXTRA-CURRICULA INCLUSIONS

Preamble: Noosa District State High School has a well-grounded tradition in providing cultural, academic, social, sporting and civic

extra-curricula opportunities for students. This has been a well-recognised feature of Noosa District State High School and empowers students to reach their full potential through a variety of learning experiences in a supportive and challenging way throughout their school life. Students are able to enjoy experiences beyond the curriculum and outside their classroom. Policy: Representing Noosa District State High School within the community is a privilege, which is to be EARNED – it is not a

right. Students who are selected to represent the school assume the responsibility of being an ambassador at all times. They are to model the values and ethos of the school. Definitions: Extra-Curricula Inclusion is an activity/resource outside the normal classroom curriculum routine. e.g. school formal,

school tour, sporting teams, debating competition. It does not refer to curriculum excursions. Sometimes sporting activities can be both curriculum and/or extra curricula activities; in this case where clarification is required, the appropriate Head of Department will advise and consult with Senior Executive Team/Principal. Guidelines: Students will be assessed in relation to their behaviour, attitude, work ethic, dress, manners, sportsmanship,

attendance at school or training and respect for the rights of others. All of these are of paramount concern and the manner in which students conduct themselves must reflect this importance. 1. Students would only be permitted to attend extra-curricula activities including (list not exhaustive) Senior Jersey/Jacket,

Traineeships, End of Year functions, debating, public speaking, ski trip, sporting teams etc. if they have:

a) Satisfactory attendance at school, including NO unexplained absences

All absences must be explained. Notes/medical certificates must be submitted immediately following the period of absence.

No Truancy from individual class lessons.

b) An acceptable standard of behaviour at school

Student behaviour is closely monitored by our Year Level Coordinators throughout the year, and class teachers will be consulted when making decisions about student eligibility in terms of their behaviour.

No suspensions of any length in the 10 weeks prior to the function (internal or external)

No suspensions of 6 – 20 days during the current school year.

Page 4: NOOSA DISTRICT STATE HIGH SCHOOL...The scheme operates under the policy and guidelines of the Department of Education and Training FNM-PR-018: Student Resource Scheme. The scheme,

c) All school contributions (fees) paid in full and up to date by end of Semester One

School contributions (fees) dating back to original enrolment must be paid in full.

If library books and/or resource hire equipment is not returned payment for items has been made.

d) Not been considered a health and safety risk by the School.

A student who is considered a WH&S risk is a student who, based on the teacher’s risk assessment, is a potential danger to other students or himself/herself, if he or she were to take part in the particular activity.

2. The teacher responsible for the event (in conjunction with the relevant Head of Department) is to ensure students meet the

obligations of this contract. The teacher will pass on the decision to exclude students from the activity, individually to each affected student in time to submit an appeal and will explain the appeal process. A letter or phone call will also be made to the student’s parent to notify them of the decision.

3. Students may write a one page appeal to the Deputy Principal responsible for that Year Level. The appeal must clearly

outline the reasons why the student feels they should be entitled to attend the activity. The appeal may be based on errors in the decision making, significant improvements in behaviour or other factors. The Deputy Principal will then make a recommendation based on the evidence provided to the Principal who will make the final decision.
