Top 10 Tips for Publishing on Nook
Nook Opportunity
Barnes and Noble is the world’s #1 bookseller and by joining the PubIt! program, you can potentially reach millions of customers by publishing to the Nook ebook store.
All you need is a Barnes and Noble customer account to get started.
Tip #1: Do Your Research
The best way to sell in a digital marketplace is to find out what sells best in that unique marketplace.
The Nook store is no different. Always do your research first.
Tip#2: Formatting is Important
Follow the formatting tips precisely to present the most readable product to your customers.
You can publish in .doc, .txt, .html and EPUB format.
Tip #3: Professional Cover Image
Always put your best foot forward with a professionally designed ebook cover.
Nook requires your cover to be in JPG format and no larger than 2 MB. The sides of your image must be between 750 and 2000 pixels in length
Tip #4: Choose up to 5 Categories
You can publish in up to 5 categories on Nook. Use this to your advantage to get the most visibility possible for your ebook.
Tip #5: Consider Getting an ISBN
An ISBN is not required, but for a $25 fee, it’s a way to add extra instant credibility to your ebook.
Tip #6: DRM Encryption
DRM Encryption is optional for your ebooks. It is technology that helps ensure your ebook isn’t shared by customers.
Tip #7: Read in Store Feature
Read in Store allows customers to view the complete contents of an ebook for up to 1 hour while in a Barnes and Noble store.
It’s a way to get more exposure for your ebook.
Tip #8: LendMe Technology
Customers can lend your book to another person for up to 14 days. For the period of lending, the customer cannot access the book and a book can only be lent one time.
It’s an opportunity to get further exposure as a Nook author.
Tip #9: Links Aren’t Clickable
You can put links in your Nook books, but they won’t be clickable in a Nook device.
Always spell your links and make them simple, so customers can type them into a web browser.
Tip #10: Join the PubIt Community
Nook’s PubIt has a very active community where you can ask questions, get support and share ideas.
Use it to make the most out of your Nook publishing experience.
