WALK TRIP TO IDAHO FALLS, IDAHO

Prepositions
I love those little words that always try
to end my clever sentences in spite
of grammar rules that make me cry
because it’s not the proper way to write.
Let’s break those rules with solemn vows
to try our best to end with little words
and disregard those foolish sacred cows
that make us write like nonsense nerds.
I’ll ask you nicely to come with
and you may ask as nice with whom
and I will show your rule is myth
that only serves to warp the loom.
Perhaps you think my theory’s dumb
that I should write and follow rules
but I know where I’m coming from
and will not play the game of fools.
These are the laws I’m living by
and will do my best to say where at
and what for to makes the linguists cry
and wrinkle their noses up at that.
—C. F. Kelly
Aspen Ridge The ridge shows green brilliance
As midsummer nears
It has shown folks its beauty
All down through the years
It’s as though it’s been placed here
By someone above
To show folks in Pinedale
His undying love

stories.
