Christmas Tree Our Christmas tree night will be held on Thursday 16th December commencing with a family BBQ from 5:30 p.m. Formal proceedings will commence at 6p.m. All staff will be in attendance, but are not on duty. Parents/Carers are responsible for their children. This is an out of school hour’s community event. The rules for students which apply through the school day, as far as games go etc. still apply so students will not be able to play tackle footy or contact games of any sort. The playground area will need to be supervised by parents/carers if their children are playing there. Santa will hopefully be arriving around 7 p.m. Semester 2 reports for all students will be sent home with our final newsletter on Thursday 8th December. The annual Xmas Scripture will be held on Friday 9th December at 12:30 p.m. Friday Assemblies are held fortnightly. Our last Friday assembly is on Friday 2nd December commencing at 12:45 p.m.
Closing Thought "On this road called life you have to take the good with the bad, smile with the sad, love what you got, and remember what you had. Always forgive, but never forget, learn from your mistakes. People change. Things go wrong. But just remember, the ride goes on." -- Author Unknown

Positive Behaviour for Learning PBL
Be Safe Be Fair Be a Learner – The Matrix (not the Keanu Reeves kind )
This week I have included our Caniaba Public School PBL Matrix for you to become familiar with.
We are aiming for students, staff, parents and community to use the positive language of our
Matrix to encourage positive behaviours for learning. Your children are quite familiar with much of
the Matrix and earn rewards for following these expected behaviours based on respect for self,
others and their school environment.
Following the PBL Matrix promotes safe, fair, learning in a variety of settings. You will notice that
the classroom is not yet one of our PBL settings as we are currently in the School Wide phase of
PBL. Next year we hope to move into training and developing PBL in the Classroom setting.
PBL focus Our new PBL focus is PLAY AREAS
These are the behaviours we expect all students to display when using play areas at school. Please take time to discuss the importance of these expectations with your children.

Caniaba Public
School
Jodie's Inspiration, a local cancer charity, will be hosting Christmas Carols at Caniaba [Adam Gilchrist Oval] on Sunday 18 December 2016. It would be appreciated if you could please advertise this information in your newsletters so that as many young children are able to attend as possible.
The event will begin from 4pm and conclude at 9pm, and we are hoping to have lots of things for kids to do, including a visit from Santa, face painting, jumping castles and a fireworks display to end the night. Entry is by donation with all money raised going towards our local oncology units. Strictly
no glass is to be brought onto the oval.
