Ikas-Art2011

El pasado mes de noviembre se celebró en Bilbao, España, la 3º edición de Ikas-Art, Muestra Internacio-nal de Arte Universitario. Ikas-Art es una buena opor-tunidad para saber lo que se está estudiando, investi-gando y creando en otras universidades de las Bellas Artes a nivel tanto nacional como internacional.

Cada Universidad (este año han participado hasta 26 universidades) ha presentado la obra de algunos de sus alumnos. El lugar se organizó en espacios in-dividuales para cada Universidad, jugando con el ta-maño e instalación de cada obra para lograr un dise-ño bien organizado y claro para la exposición.

Llevábamos tiempo queriendo explicaros de prime-ra mano lo que fue para nosotros esta efímera gran muestra de arte, lo que vimos y lo que más nos llamó la atención. ¡Nuestra impresión fue tan buena que terminamos comprándonos tanto el catálogo de la edición de este año y la del año pasado! Así que nos gustaría enseñaros algunas de las obras expuestas en esta Muestra Internacional de Arte Universitario.

Last November, took place in Bilbao, Spain, the 3rd edition of Ikas-Art, International Art Show Universi-ty. Ika-Art is a good opportunity to know what you are studying, researching and creating other universities in the Fine Arts both nationally and internationally.

Each university (this year, 26 universities have par-ticipated) has presented the work of some of his stu-dents. The site is organized into individual spaces for each university,playing with the size and installation of each work for a well organized and clear design for the exhibition.

We had long wanted to explain first hand what it was for us this great art exhibition, what we saw and what struck us most.Our impression was so good I ended up buying both thecatalog this year and last year! So we would like to show you some of the ex-hibits in theInternational Exhibition of Art University.

Os queremos enseñar la obra de Irina Vinnik una artista rusa con un estilo muy característico. Lleva-mos tiempo siguiendo su obra de cerca porque cree-mos que merece mucho la pena. Esperamos que la disfrutéis y que os sirva de inspiración.

Sus dibujos, básicamente de línea, siempre recuer-dan formas orgánicas y naturales, siendo al final una mezcla entre lo abstracto y lo figurativo.

Además hemos visto trabajos sobre lettering en los que también recurre a su estilo característico.

Sería maravilloso echarle mano a uno de sus sket-chbooks ¿verdad?

We want to show you the work of Irina Vinnik, a Russian artist with a very distinctivestyle. We’ve been following her work closely because we believe it’s worth. We hope you enjoy it and that will inspire you.

His drawings, line essentially, always remember natural and organic forms, finally being a mix be-tween abstract and figurative. We have also seen work on lettering which also uses her characteristic style.

It would be wonderful to get your hands on one of her sketchbooks, right?

“Abstracción pictórica, 1949-1969: Selecciones de las Colecciones Guggenheim” es la exposición que actualmente, y hasta el 8 de enero del 2012, esta-rá en el Guggenheim Bilbao. Os recomendamos esta exposición, si aun no la habéis ido a visitar, porque es una gran oportunidad para ver obras de artistas como Jackson Pollock , Willem de Kooning, Ellsworth Kelly, Robert Rauschenberg, Karel Appel, Alberto Bu-rri, Antoni Tàpies, Yves Klein, Jean Tinguely y Piero Manzoni, entre otros.

Esta exposición nos enseña las afinidades sur-gidas en el arte entre EEUU y Europa después de la II Guerra Mundial. Por ejemplo, en EEUU la pin-tura empezaba a girar hacia una expresión surgida del gesto. Nuevos métodos de aplicar la pintura en el lienzo, no sólo con el pincel sino también median-te salpicaduras como hizo Pollock, o como Rothko y Motherwell quienes emplearon grandes superficies de color para expresar estados espirituales.

Mientras tanto, en Europa se estaba dando un cambio hacia una pintura informal, o el arte sin for-ma, desechando las armonías tonales, la composi-ción integral y el equilibrio característicos del arte de generaciones anteriores. El Arte Informal, o el arte sin forma, tiene una gran variedad de técnicas abs-tractas y métodos pictóricos que emergieron en esta postguerra.

Lamentablemente, nosotros aun no hemos podi-do ir a verla, pero tenemos muchas ganas por ver obras de artistas como Pollock, Rothko, Tàpies...en-tre otros. Así que cuando encontremos un hueco en-tre trabajo y trabajo, iremos corriendo. Recordar que esta exposición termina el 8 de enero, así que si es-táis por Bilbao, no perdáis la oportunidad de ir.

The exhibition “Painterly Abstraction, 1949-1969: Selections from the Guggenheim Collections” is now, and until 8 January, in the Guggenheim Bilbao. This exhibition shows the affinities between art emerged in the U.S. and Europe afterWorld War II. For example, the U.S. paint started to looking an ex-pression emergedgesture. New methods of applying paint on the canvas, not only with the brush but also through splashes as did Pollock, or Rothko and Moth-erwell who used large areas of color to express spir-itual states.

Meanwhile, in Europe was taking a change to a in-formal painting, or art without form, discarding the tonal harmonies, composition and balance charac-teristic of the art ofprevious generations. Informal art, or art without form, has a variety of techniques and methods of abstract painting that emerged in the postwar period.

Unfortunately, we still have not been able to go see it, but we are looking forward to seeworks by art-ists like Pollock, Rothko, Tapies ... among others. So when we find a gapbetween jobs, we will be running. Remember that this exhibition ends on January 8, so ifyou are in Bilbao, do not miss the chance to go.

Llevamos un tiempo presentando artistas y colecti-vos que se mueven en el mundillo entre arte y diseño a un nivel internacional, pero también creemos que es interesante buscar artistas y diseñadores que es-tán empezando y que serán los que cojan el relevo a los veteranos.

Este es el caso de Esther Morales, estudiante de Bellas Artes en Salamanca, España. Esther nos deja ver algunos de sus trabajos en Ansia Creadora, su blog personal el cual os animamos a visitar. ¿Y qué decir de esta joven artista? Ya llevamos un tiempo vi-sitando su blog y siempre que vemos algo nuevo nos despierta el gusanillo de la envida, envidia sana por supuesto, y las ganas de crear aumentan por mo-mentos. Así que con el permiso de Esther, nos gusta-ría enseñaros un pequeño adelanto de lo que podréis encontrar en Ansia Creadora. He de decir que no ha sido nada fácil hacer una selección... ¡Si por nosotros fuera hubiéramos puesto todos los trabajos! :)

¡Esperamos que os guste y que os despierte las ganas de dibujar y crear como nos ocurre a nosotros!

We’ve been presenting you artists and collective from the world between art and design in an interna-tional level for a while, but we also think that is inter-esting to search for artists and designers who are be-ginning and will be those who catch the baton to the veterans.

This is the case of Esther Morales, a student of “Fine Arts” in Salamanca (Spain). Esther lets us see some of her work in Ansia Creadora, her personal blog, which we encourage you to visit. And, what to say about this young artist? We have already been visiting her blog for a while and whenever we see something new awakens us the envy bug, healthy envy of course, and the desire to create increases for moments. So, with permission from Esther, we would like to show you a small preview of what you will find in Ansia Creadora. I must say that it has not been easy at all to make a selection... if it was in our hands we would have put out all her works! :)

We hope you like them and that it awakens the de-sire to draw and create as it happens to us!

¡Hola a todos y feliz año nuevo!Hoy os queremos presentar la obra de Audrey

Kawasaki. Las formas suaves y redondeadas, las mi-radas intensas e inocentes, los colores pastel... pa-recen ser las herramientas más utilizadas por esta artista. Los volúmenes conseguidos con suaves vela-duras nos sumergen en una atmósfera en de magia, dulzura y sensualidad. Ella misma asegura que sus trabajos, generalmente realizados sobre madera, es-tán inspirados tanto por el Art Nouveau, lo cual pode-mos apreciar en el tratamiento de la línea, como por el estilo manga.

La figura femenina es el personaje principal en sus obras. A través de ella transmite melancolía, inocen-cia, delicadeza, y a la vez logra que su mirada llegue a seducir al espectador de tal manera que le atra-pa y le lleva a ese mundo de fantasía del que antes hablábamos.

Hi everyone and happy new year!Today we want to present you the work of Audrey

Kawasaki. Soft and rounded forms, intense and in-nocent gaze, pastel colours... seem to be the most used tools of this artist. The volumes obtained with soft glazes immerse us in an atmosphere of mag-ic, sweetness and sensuality. She ensures that her works, usually are made on wood, are inspired by both the Art Nouveau style, which can be seen in the treatment of the line, and the manga style.

The female figure is the principal character in her works. Through that she transmitted melancholy, in-

nocence, delicacy and, at the same time, she achieve that her gaze gets to seduce the spectator so it catch-es him and takes him to that fantasy world we have talked about.
