We hope that you support your child in two ways: encourage reading at home and support your child through collecting of pledges. The proceeds will go towards sup- porting our Modern Learning focus as part of MacG’s plan to support student achievement and well-being. In alignment with York Region District School Board’s definition, Modern Learning is the authentic, relevant, deep learning that enables your child to create, to connect, to communicate and to share their learning with the world and to be future ready. The Modern Learning focus is part of the many ways we work towards improving student achievement and well-being. We contin- ue to personalize your child’s learning and promote collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. With our fundraising proceeds, we are able to continue to appropriately upgrade and integrate technology as a learning and commu- nication tool and promote mindsets of innovation, growth, character, and community as foundational to digital and global citizenship. To support MacG’s Modern Learning foci, your child is encouraged to participate in the Read-A-Thon from April 3 to April 16. Proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards purchasing robotics, coding, and Makerspace products/equipment. Students are asked to read and record the number of minutes from April 3 to April 16. Reading aloud to your child is another way to participate. Classes from each division (Kindergarten, Primary, Junior, Intermediate) who read the most number of minutes at the end of the two-week period will be awarded a Boston Pizza Lunch Picnic Outdoor Fun Party! In addition, top readers from each class will be awarded with a Reading Award generously donated by Boston Pizza. We hope students collect pledges from family and friends using the Pledge Collection Envelope. As your child fills an envelope, a second envelope is available upon returning of the completed envelope. Pledge Collection Envelopes are due April 19 to be eligible for prizes.
The top fundraiser will win a choice of an IPad Mini OR $400 Best Buy Gift Card. There are many other prizes available for your child to win. For each $5 collected, your child will receive one ballot to enter into a draw from the following choices:
