No One Dies Alone - UCSF Spirit Care

1
No One Dies Alone The mission of UCSF Medical Center is “caring, healing, teaching, discovering.” For our adult patients who do not have family members, spouses/partners, friends, or other loved ones nearby to give them comfort as they approach their deaths, we want to make—and keep—one big promise of caring: No adult will die in our hospital without being offered the opportunity for human companionship at the end of her or his life. This effort is called No One Dies Alone and will be coordinated by the chaplains of Spiritual Care Services, working in collaboration with nurses, social workers, Patient Relations, and the Palliative Care Service. However, the primary people who will make this goal a reality will be committed, compassionate, and trained volunteers. We will launch it at our Parnassus Heights campus, beginning in early 2017, with plans to expand it later to include our Mission Bay campus. If you are interested in donating to this initiative or participating as a volunteer, please contact Spiritual Care Services at 415-353-1941 or 415-514-4200 or e-mail us at [email protected] or [email protected]. Thank you in advance for your support! This volunteer program has received a generous grant with thanks to UCSF Partners in Care, the UCSF Medical Center Auxiliary supporting patients and families. No One Dies Alone

The mission of UCSF Medical Center is “caring, healing, teaching, discovering.” For our adult patients who do not have family members, spouses/partners, friends, or other loved ones nearby to give them comfort as they approach their deaths, we want to make—and keep—one big promise of caring:

No adult will die in our hospital without being offered the opportunity

for human companionship at the end of her or his life.
