My MCBS StoryboardBridget Dombkoski

New Media Tools - WK 2

Before I started the MCBS program, I was attending a small college in West Virginia

called West Virginia Wesleyan.

I had always thought I wanted my career to be in medicine, or something related to

anatomy.

Growing up I had always enjoyed my science classes and learning exactly how the body works. Therefore, I decided to study Exercise Physiology with hopes to possibly end up in grad school for physical

therapy.

It took me three years at Wesleyan studying exercise physiology to realize that my heart

wasn't in the program at all.

Because I was feeling this way, I decided it was time to make a change.

I had been Philanthropy Chair in my sorority while attending WVWC, which means I was in charge of

putting on service events for Alpha Delta Pi's philanthropy, The Ronald McDonald House.

I had the opportunity to organize our annual Pi-K race in 2012, and helped our sorority raise the most money we ever

have during that event - almost $1,000 for the Ronald McDonald House!

This is what made me realize how much I absolutely loved organizing and being in charge of events.

Bringing a group of people together for a common purpose and running a successful event has

always been something I've thoroughly enjoyed.

Because of that, it was clear to me that I needed to find an institution that would be able to help

me fulfill my new dream - event planning!

Along with planning events, I have always had a strong passion for music and the music industry. Attending live

shows and music festivals is one of my favorite things to do.

What better way to combine both of my passions of planning events and music, then to work towards

becoming an event planner within the music industry!

My dream is to one day, work behind the scenes in either event planning or project management for one of my favorite music companies, such as Insomniac

Events or Ultra Music Records.

Finally, after some research, I came across the prestigious Full Sail University.

When I discovered Full Sail offered a Media Communications degree, I knew this school was exactly

where I wanted to be.

Ever since I decided to pursue my passion for media, opportunities have been revealing themselves to me out of the wood works!

I recently landed an amazing position as operations assistant to the VP/COO of an event

called Independence Music Festival, which is coming to Orlando in August.

I could not be more tickled to have this opportunity because I am currently getting behind

the scenes experience within my dream career.

I'm also working on other projects with Full Sail students, such as a Youtube show called Media

Bonkers and podcasts for an electronic music radio show.

Because of this degree and the material I'm learning, the possibilities for my future and career are endless.

Making the decision to come to Full Sail has been one the best decisions I've ever made!
