U vindt er een klasje, schoen- makerij, hoedenmakerij, kuiperij, Vlaamse woonkamer, suiker- bakkerij, apotheek, herberg, kleermakerij, traditioneel textiel en een authentiek slaapkamerinterieur. Op donderdagnamid- dag wordt er op ambachtelijke wijze snoep bereid. De eerste zaterdag van september kan je in het museum voor volkskunde meevieren met de Aristidefeesten en de zondag voor Kerstmis met het Midwinterfeest. Dans les huit maisons-dieu du 17ème siècle ainsi que dans l'ex- tension moderne, vous pouvez admirer une collection exclusive d’objets anciens. La vie de jadis y est reconstruite dans une classe d’école, une cordonnerie, une chapellerie, des ateliers de tailleur et de confection, une tonnellerie, une confiserie, un salon flamand typique, une authentique chambre à coucher, une officine de pharmacie et une auberge. Le jeudi après-midi, un artisan confiseur fait des bonbons qui embaument le musée des senteurs de notre enfance. Le premier samedi de septem- bre, le musée participe aux festivités d’Aristide et le dimanche avant Noël, au marché hivernal. Eight almshouses from the 17th century, with a modern archi- tectural extension, contain a collection of old objects in a series of different decors from the days of yesteryear: a classroom, a cobbler’s workshop, a hatter’s workshop, a cooper’s (barrel- maker’s) workshop, a Flemish living room, a confectioner’s ba- kery, a pharmacy, an inn, a tailor’s workshop, traditional texti- les, and an authentic bedroom interior. Every Thursday after- noon, fresh sweets are made, using traditional recipes and techniques. Twice a year the museum opens it doors to take part in local festivals: the Aristide Festival on the first Saturday in September and the Midwinter Festival on the Sunday before Christmas.
