Nirmal Ashram Gyan Daan Academy (NGA) If you want to serve God, you have to learn to serve mankind. God favours those who engage themselves in the sublime task of serving human beings who are not very fortunate to help themselves. It was September 21, 2003, the day of Centenary Celebrations of Nirmal Ashram, Rishikesh. A big gathering of holy men, ascetics, ordinary mortals and men and women who had dedicated themselves to the service of God, was held at the village Khairi-Kalan, Rishikesh. Amidst the chanting of Gurbani, His Holiness Mahant Baba Ram Singh Ji Maharaj and Sant Jodh Singh Ji Maharaj of Nirmal Ashram, Rishikesh, laid the foundation stone of Nirmal Ashram Gyan Daan Academy. It was a solemn occasion. An educational institution which would impart quality education to the children of those who could not afford to send their children to a good school was to come into existence to serve a great and noble cause. Those who witnessed the construction work in progress were more than pleasantly surprised to see the School building so tastefully done ready for the inaugural session on April 02, 2004 when 178 children were selected for LKG, UKG, I and II classes. Today, NGA has about 950 students in classes UKG to XII. It is a full fledged Senior Secondary School. For the selection of students, School Management has appointed a committee whose work is quite cumbersome. The members of the committee go from door to door to meet parents of the children to ensure that needy and deserving children would get admission in the Totally Free School. NGA is unique centre of quality education of its own kind, where with the Divine Blessings of His Holiness Mahant Baba Ram Singh Ji Maharaj along with free education, students get books, stationery, uniform, mid-day meal, transport facility and medical aid–all free of cost. Many devotees of the Ashram come forward with their moral support and munificent help to make our mission a success. NGA has been successful in creating an atmosphere which ensures progress of students in every field. We strive at imparting such a training to our students that they feel fully confident to compete (of course in a healthy manner). In order to ensure maximum participation of students in maximum activities the students have been divided into four Houses. Each House has been named after a legendary character drawn from our ancient literature, to provide perennial inspiration to the students from their lives and great acts. The Houses are Prahlad, Shravan, Luv and Kush. These Houses are under the tutelage of experienced and dedicated teachers who constantly provide necessary guidance and motivation to the students so that they may excel and bring laurels to their respective Houses. Students are taught to be humble in victory and courageous in defeat. The ‘Wednesday Test Schedule/Formative Assessment’ has been a boon to keep a regular academic track-record of the students, so that they become regular in their studies and also shed off Examination Phobia. To make the parents aware of their child’s performance, Parent-Teacher Meet is a regular feature of NGA. We are confident that the students of NGA are proving themselves worthy of enjoying the Blessings of His Holiness Mahant Baba Ram Singh Ji Maharaj. They are fortunate that they live under the benign protection of Sant Baba Jodh Singh Ji Maharaj whose meticulous planning and perfect execution of all programmes make NGA the kind of institution that it was envisaged before its establishment. (Knowledge is God’s Greatest Gift to Human) Internal Assessment and Grading in the Subjects of Computer Science, G. K., Punjabi, Physical & Health Education, Environmental Education, Music, Art & Craft, General Studies, Work Experience (SUPW) will be held by the subject teachers as per the directions of the Examination Incharges, sanctioned by the Head of the Institution. *75% attendance is must from First Week (April) of the New Session to the end of the session (Last week of March) as per CBSE norms. If attendance is short, students will not be permitted to appear in final examination.
