Mozu KofungunWalking MapWalk and Discover -The Ancient Mystery -
More than 100 kofun, ancient tumuli, were constructed from the late 4th century to the mid 5th century. There are 44 remaining kofun including the world's largest ancient tumulus, Nintoku-tenno-ryo Kofun and many large zempo- koenfun (keyhole-shaped tumuli).
About the Mozu Tumulus Cluster Mozu-sanryo (Three Great Tumuli of Mozu)
Nintoku-tenno-ryo KofunThe largest keyhole-shaped tumulus in Japan, with its mound 486m long.It seems to have been built in the late 6th century.
Hanzei-tenno-ryo KofunLocated in the northern end of Mozu-sanryo. It seems to have been constructed in the mid 5th century.
Richu-tenno-ryo KofunThe 3rd largest tumulus in Japan with its mound 365m long. It seems to have been built in the early 5th century.
