clinical trial conducted in 1747 by James Lind, Royal Naval Surgeon, who proved the

link between citrus fruits and scurvy...

Science toured the CRF at the

Northern General Hospital site and

attended presentations

within cardiology and cardiothoracic

surgery

CRF Staff manned stands in clinical areas throughout the hospital to promote clinical

research and OK to Ask!

Year 10 Students from Firth Park Academy were shown the NIHR Clinical Research

Facility at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital

At 6pm a well attended public talk was held in the Medical School which explained why clinical research is important to the NHS, why it should be seen as core business and what it’s like to participate in. This was followed by a panel of speakers and patients answering questions from the audience

CRF Research Nurse, Branwen Ellison-Handley gave a perspective from the CRF
