Overcoming the Five Dysfunctions of a TeamWould you say your team is more dysfunctional than functional? If so, you’re not alone. In this interactive session, we will discuss the five dysfunctions of a team (based on Patrick Lensioni’s bestselling book with that same title): Absence of Trust, Fear of Conflict, Lack of Commitment, Avoidance of Accountability, and Inattention to Results. We will talk about strategies and tools that each team member will be able to put into action to overcome these dysfunctions. Teamwork remains a huge competitive advantage - because it’s so powerful and it’s so rare! As a result of attending this program, you should be able to: Understand the expectations for a cohesive team, based on The Five Dysfunctions of a Team model; Have a basic understanding of the degree to which the team meets the expectations; (knows where we are) Take the first steps toward building trust and understanding conflict styles; Establish a plan for making progress on commitment, accountability and results; and developing an action plan for improving teamwork.

Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) is pleased to announce a new tutoring program for people with dyslexia. We will use a systematic, explicit and intensive method of instruction in phonemic awareness, phonics, reading fluency, vocabulary and reading comprehension strategies designed for one-on-one tutoring of children, teens and adults. If you or someone you knows has dyslexia register today!

For more information or to register, contact Learning Center Associate Ann Lester at 563.557.8271, ext. 143 or [email protected].

Dyslexia Tutoring

Adult Basic Education instruction is offered through the Adult Literacy Program to help people with limited or “rusty” academic skills. Tier 1 classes are vocationally-based and are designed for students with learning challenges, who want to build on their current skills. Tier 2 classes are academically-orientated and are designed for students who want to “brush up” on skills that could help them in their daily lives, who need help in passing college-entrance/work-related exams or taking the GED. Fees include: Annual program fee $25 (non-refundable).

For additional information on the Adult Basic Education classes contact Jodie Hanna at 888.642.2338, ext. 105 or [email protected].
