Purpose The general purpose of the NHHAC shall be to encourage the members to acquire, preserve, restore, exhibit and make use of antique, classic and special interest automobiles, and such other motor vehicles considered by the club fitting this purpose. Also, the club will promote the introduction of ideas and fellowship among its members. The Newsletter of the North Hills Historic Auto Club Since 1971 A Message from the President We had a well attended January meeting for such a cold evening…I think the count was twelve. It was a good meeting with Sean O’Neill giving a talk concerning our future car shows. This year we will probably keep to our past car shows, but after that, Jim Sommerville and his Car Show Committee may want to make some changes. Our Winter Get-A-Way to Blackwater Falls is just around the corner, so if you are thinking of going, make your reservations now, then call Jackie Sheerer. I think we have twelve couples going so far. Bring your puzzles, cards, etc. and we’ll have a good time. I will be arranging a Spring Sunday Brunch Trip and I’d like to go back to Seton Hill just one more time. I understand they have a whole new dining hall and kitchen. It’s always good food and the price is right. I’ll let you know the date as soon as I get it organized. Speaking of tours! We’ll be doing lunch tours starting in May. They will be on the first and third Thursday of each month, running through October. If anyone knows of a place they like and think everyone would like, just let me know and I’ll check it out. Thanks for all you do for the Club and I hope to see you at the Jack Swaney After Christmas Extravaganza! Your President Steve Illsley

Proposed Changes to the Car ShowAt the January Meeting, Sean O'Neill brought forth a number of ideas that were compiled by JoeSomerville (Car Show Chairman), Daryl Elliott (Flea Market Chairman), and himself. They had abrainstorming meeting on possible changes that could be made to the car show event that would (a)maximize preparation before the day of the show (as opposed to a whirlwind, day-of effort), (b) minimizeexpenses, and (c) maximize profits.

The following ideas were brought to the membership in attendance at the meeting for their feedback.Due to weather and other factors, attendanc was abnormally low at the meeting, so a summary of theproposed changes are listed here. Please take some time to consider the ideas and provide your feedbackto Joe, Daryl, or Sean. Final decisions are made by the Car Show Chairman.

Registration - vehicles are assigned a sequential number as they register; no class assignments

Donations - $2/person for all attending the show, or $5 per vehicle; example 1: a family of 3 walking inis $6; example 2: a vehicle with a driver and passenger is $5.

Parking - Eliminate parked classes; parking would be on a "cruise" system where vehicles fill in next toeach other, regardless of year of manufacture

Judging - eliminate formal judging by the NHHAC membership, and revert to all "Peoples Choice"; allcar show participants (vehicle owners, pedestrians, etc.) vote for their Top 3 Favorite Cars by writingdown each vehicle's registration number as they walk the show field, then cast their ballot at votingstations; votes will be tallied, and the vehicle with the most votes in each decade receives an award

(Note: vehicle participants would not need to stay all day, like at a cruise. However, to increasetheir likelihood of winning a prize, they have a better chance the longer they stay, as moreparticipants will get to admire their vehicle.)

Awards - eliminate First, Second, Third trophies; an Awards Chairperson would be responsible forcollecting donations form the community such as gift baskets, gift certificates, etc. not to exceed a setdollar value; winners do not have to be present to receive their award (phone numbers and addressescollected at registraion for this purpose); NHHAC would present a Best Of Show Trophy to a winningvehicle of the club's choosing

Raffles - retain the 50/50 raffle; add a silent auction of gift baskets that can be donated/assembledahead of time

Concessions - Eliminate NHHAC-led concessions stand; hire 2-3 food trucks stationed near the showfield; profits from the food trucks are split with the NHHAC

Flea Market - increased effort on establishing a flea market area; reach out by mail and email to allvendors from previous NHHAC Flea Market events; spaces sold on a per-parking-spot basis
