NGĀTI TOA NEWS www.ngatitoa.school.nz P: 04 236 7785 E: offi[email protected] Kaye Kaye’s Korero Kia ora whanau. It is exciting to see our school roll growing. We currently have 164 children which is a lovely size. We are keen to know of children who may be coming over the next year or so as this helps with forward planning. It is particularly important for us to know of potential five year olds so we can consider our class sizes for 2018. Please let the office know of any upcoming enrolments and encourage people you might know to complete the enrolment form. It doesn’t commit them to our school but gives us a bit of an idea who might be coming. We are in the process of planning for term three’s focus, which is “Zero Waste”. We are exploring all the theme areas of the Enviroschools programme this year, which sit within the sustainability focus. They are: Living Landscapes Zero Waste Healthy Water Precious Energy Ecological Buildings The key objectives of the topic next term will be for children to know and understand what waste is, where it comes from, and its impact on the environment, and to explore solutions for managing waste. Each class will take its own slant on this but will be working around these base understandings. Looking forward to seeing you all at next week’s reporting nights. Get in touch with the office if you need an appointment. Nga mihi nui Calling anyone who can help paint... Thanks to those who have got back to us so far with offers of help with the painting. We will give you a call to sort some times out for this. We have started to paint the corridors of the junior block to brighten and freshen it up and we need as much help as we can get to do it. Who else can help us please? We would like to do it across a few weekends (or we could wait until the holidays). If you would like to help could you please either let me know on [email protected] or send back the tear-off. They had a fantastic game this time, which really showed their improvement. The final score was a close loss 15–12 to Titahi Bay. Great effort, team.
