The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International cooperation (MAECI) offers grants in favor offoreign cit izens not residing in l taly* and ltal ian cit izens l iving abroad {lRE}** for the academicyear 2019-202o in order to foster international cultural, scientif ic and technological cooperation,to promote ltal ian language and culture and to support l taly's economic system in the world(According to Law z8s/5s and its subsequent changes and addit ions).
The grants are only avairabre to attend academic courses in rtary.

Art. LGRANTS OPPORTUNITIES
1.1 Master's Degree (Laurea Magistrale 2" cicto)Grants for Master's Degree courses are awarded for a period of study of 6 (six) or 9 (nine)months.Admission to the f irst year of a Master's Degree course in l taly requires the completion of aBachelor's degree in the applicants'country of origin; admission to the second year is granted toapplicants upon evidence to be on track with their f irst year studies.
1'2 courses of Higher Education in Arts, Music, and Dance (AFAM)Grants for courses of Higher Education in Arts, Music, and Dance (AFAM) are awarded for a periodof study of 6 (six) or 9 (nine) months.To be admitted to an ltal ian AFAM Insti tute, applicants need to meet the entry requirements andacadem ic quali f ications esta b l ished by the relevant Un iversity/ lnsti tute.
1.3 PhD programGrants for a PhD program are awarded for a period of study of 6 (six) or 9 (nine) months.To be admitted to a PhD in l taly, applicants need to meet the entry requirements and academicquali f ications established by the University; they are also required to provide a letter ofacceptance on behalf of the relevantltal ian University.
1.4 Research under academic supervision (Progett i in co-tutela)Grants for a research under academic supervision are awarded for a period of study of 6 (sixlor 9(nine) months.This type of grants can be awarded to research projects carried out at the l tal ian ResearchInst i tu t ions ( i ,e l ta l ian Research Counci l - CNR, l ta l ian Nat ional Inst i tu te of Heal th - lSS, l ta l ianNational Insti tute for Nuclear Physics - INFN, l tal ian National Insti tute for Astrophysics - INAF, TheItal ian Insti tute for Environmental Protection and Research - ISPRA) under the academicsuperv is ion of publ ic Univers i t ies or Museums and Archives.
Applicants muSt submit a research project and the letter of admission on behalf of the hostUniversity/ lnsti tute; they are also required to provide the name and contacts (e-mail address) oftheir supervisors.
Nota bene: Admission to some Master's Degree courses or AFAM Institutes requires anadmission test. Please refer to the relevant University/AFAM lnstitute to check whether anadmission test is required.
1,5ltal ian Language and Culture Courses
Grants for l tal ian language and culture courses are awarded exclusively for a period of 3 (three)months to students currently attending an ltal ian course at a University or at an ltal ian Culturallnsti tute.
Applicants must provide a cert i f icate of their proficiency in l tal ian language. The minimum levelrequired is A2 within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR):(https://www.l insuaital iana.esteri. i t /data/l insua/corsi/pdf/tabella cert i f icazioni.pdf).
Art. 2ELIGIBITITY
Applicants who wil l meet the fol lowing requirements by the deadline of this cal l (May 30th,20t9,2 p.m. C.E.T.) may apply for a grant.
2.1 Academic quali f ications
Applications must only be submitted by foreign students not residing in l taly* and by l tal iancit izens l iving abroad (lRE)** holding an appropriate academic quali f ication required to enrol l tothe ltal ian U niversity/lnstitute (morehttps :/ /studyin i ta lv.esteri. i t /en/Recogn it ion-of-qua l i f ication ).

2.2 Age requirements
Applicants for Master's Degree/Higher Education in Arts, Music, and Dance (AFAM) programmes/I ta l ian Language and cu l ture courses should not be over 28 years o ld by the deadl ine of th is ca l l(May 30th, 20Lg), with the sole exception of renewals.
Applicants for PhD Programmes should not be over 30 years old by the deadline of this cal l (May30th,2019), with the sole exception of renewals.
Applicants for Research Projects under academic supervision should not be over 40 years old bythe deadl ine of th is ca l l (May 30th, 2019) .
2.3 Language proficiency
2.3.1 l tal ian-taught courses
Framework of Reference for Languages {CEFR}:a l i ana . f/tabella cert i
candidates who were enro l led in l ta l ian course at the univers i ty may submit a languagecert i f ication issued by a language teacher of the University department.
2.3.2 English-taught coursesln this case applicants must provide a language cert i f icate of their proficiency in English Language.The minimum level required is B2 within the common European Framework of Reference forLanguages (CEFRl.
self-cert i f ication may be valid for candidates from countries where English is an off icial languageand who are apply ing for courses held ent i re ly in Engl ish.
2.3.3 l tal ian language and culture courses

Art. 3RENEWALS
3.l Applicants who have received a MAECI grant in the Academic Year 2018-2019 may applythrough ordinary procedures to continue or complete a mult i-year degree course. Renewalsare granted only to applicants who prove satisfactory academic progress.
3.2 Applicants are eligible to attend a Single Cycle Degree Program (Corso di Laurea a Ciclo lJnico)for the academic year 20\9-2020 only i f they have received a MAECI grant for the same coursein the Academic Year 2018-2019. Renewals are granted only to applicants who provesatisfactory academic progress.

FUNDING PERIOD
Grants are awarded for a period of study from January 1't, 2020 to october gL'r, zozo.For renewals only, grants may be awarded for a period of study from November 1't , 201g toOctober 3lst 2020.
Art. 5INELIGIBILITY
Ital ian Public Administration employees and their f irst-degree descendants can not apply forgrants.
Grants cannot be awarded to attend Bachelor's Degree courses (f irst cycle) or Single Cycle DegreePrograms with the sole exception of renewals (cf. Art. 3.2).
Besides, grants cannot be awarded to attend courses in foreign Insti tut ions based in l taly orabroad, nor in private Insti tutes, Research Centres or Labs not recognised bythe ltal ian Ministry ofEducation, University, and Research (MIUR).
Applications not meeting the el igibi l i ty cri teria wil l not be considered.

Art.7SELECTION AND AWARDTNG OF GRANTS
T.l Selection
Applications wil l be evaluated by a committee set up by the ltal ian Diplomatic Mission accreditedin the applicant's country of origin.

7.2 Awardins
Grants wil l be awarded on the basis of a comparative assessment of applications according to theentry requirements and other cri teria rerated to appricant,s cv.
7.3 Ranking
The relevant Diplomatic Mission wil l publish the l ist of grantees as well as a l ist of the bestexcluded, i f any.
A r t . 8TUITION FEES
Grantees may be exempted from the payment of enrol lment and tuit ion fees depending on thepolicy of each University.
Exemptions are not granted for courses in l tal ian language and culture, for which enrol lment feesare due.
A r t . 9HEALTH AND MEDICAT INSURANCE
Grantees wil l be covered by a health and medical/accident insurance contractedentire duration of the grant.Insurance coverage wil l not apply to events derived from pre-exist ing physicalcondit ions.

TERMS OF GRANT
Grantees wil l receive a 900 Euros monthly al lowance on a quarterly basis, which wil l be paid onthei r l ta l ian bank account ,
The f irst instal lment of the grant can be received only after the completion of Universityenrol lment and the submission of al l the documents requested according to the necessaryadministrative procedures. . :The MAECI wil l begin the disbursment procedures at the end of each quarter. lndividual paymentswil l therefore commence after that period.
The last instal lment of the grant wil l be paid only upon verif ication of satisfactory academicprogress.
Art. 11
INCOMPATIBILITY
The grant is incompatible with any other grant offered by the ltal ian Government or any other
ltalian public institution, including the grants provided by ltalian Regions per il diritto allo studio
regionale (Right to Education provided by Regionat Authoritiesl.
