He prays at his baptism, after healing people, before choosing the twelve disciples, and before feeding the five thousand, to name only a few. Those closest to him in the gospel have witnessed his life of prayer, and you can sense their desire to have what Jesus has in the request, “Lord, teach us to pray.” Jesus’ response is the beloved words of the Our Father and several teachings on prayer: pray persistently and constantly and trust God to give you what you need. In our life of faith we are called to pray at all times. Sometimes these prayers are the traditional words passed down through generations of faith, but other times they are our own unique communication. Just like the disciples in today’s gospel, let us trustingly request of Jesus, “Lord, teach us to pray.” Living Liturgy 2019 NEXT WEEKEND WELCOMERS MUSICIANS COMMENTATOR LECTOR 1 LECTOR 2 SPECIAL MINISTERS SATURDAY 6.00PM A Kurovec G Bourke J Cook R Casanova R Rendell C Story, Volunteer SUNDAY 9.00AM P Keil J Butters E Strycharski J Meffert C Meffert L Mrdjen, K Green OFFICE HOURS Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm COFFIN BAY MASS First Sunday of the month 6.00pm HOLY HOUR First Sunday of the Month, 3.00pm ANOINTING OF THE SICK First Friday of the Month, 9.00am and 6.00pm Mass ROSARY PRAYER Every Friday, 9.30 am after Mass YOUTH GROUP Friday 30th August 6pm Phone Dana 0427609698 CWL Tuesday 13th August 10.00am MENS BREAKFAST Saturday 31st August 7.30am FILM AFTERNOON Sunday 18th August PARISH MARKET 28th July 2019 HOSPITAL VISITING If you have family in hospital who would like to be visited, please inform Fr Ben, Fr John or Fr Adrian so we can respond to their need UPCOMING MEETINGS/ GATHERINGS PARISH FINANCE TEAM: Thursday 25th July 5.30pm JUBILEE WORKING GROUP: Monday 29th July, 5.00pm PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL: Tuesday 6th August PARISH PASTORAL CARE TEAM: 6th August 7.00pm PRISON MINISTRY: Saturday 24th August 10.00am Reflection Day: Friday 20th September ABUSE REPORT LINE: 131478 Monica Woods is our Parish Child Safe Officer: 0428 823 137 SAINT MARY OF THE ANGELS CATHOLIC CHURCH JUBILEE YEAR: REJOICE! PRAYER FOR GRANDPARENTS

Lord Jesus, you were born of the Virgin Mary,

the daughter of Saints Joachim and Anne.

Look with love on grandparents the world over.

Protect them! They are a source of enrichment for families, for the Church

and for all of society.

Support them! As they grow older,

may they continue to be for their families

strong pillars of Gospel faith, guardian of noble domestic ideals,

living treasuries of sound religious traditions.

Make them teachers of wisdom and courage,

that they may pass on to future generations the fruits

of their mature human and spiritual experience.

Lord Jesus, help families and society

to value the presence and roles of grandparents.

May they never be ignored or excluded,

but always encounter respect and love.

Help them to live serenely and to feel welcomed

in all the years of life which you give them.

Mary, Mother of all the living,

keep grandparents constantly in your care,

accompany them on their earthly pilgrimage, and by your prayers,

grant that all families may one day be reunited in our heavenly homeland,

where you await all humanity for the great embrace of life without end.

PLENARY COUNCIL 2020: National Theme for Discernment #6

How is God calling us to be a Christ-centred Church that is Open to

Conversion, Renewal and Reform?

This National Theme for Discernment is inspired by the voices of the People

of God who expressed a desire to do things differently in response to Christ

and the experience of our people, accepting that faithfulness to tradition

requires change that is both personal and communal. Find out more at
