Also, the September meeting will be the hands-on project. Judy asked everyone to save
old shoes and boots to use for the project.

2018 Scholarship
It was an honor for me to represent the Twins-burg Garden Club at the 46
th Annual Senior Academic
Awards on May 10, 2019 at Twinsburg High School. I was told by Fran Turle, who worked at the school back in 1980, that there were only three local/community scholarships given to the students that year. This year there were 43 local com-munity scholarships and/or awards given to 136 students who maintained a 3.5 GPA or higher
The recipient of the TGC scholarship is Abigail Rathers from Reminderville. Abby maintained a 3.6 GPA or 4.5 weighted GPA. Her ACT, SAT and STEM scores were high. She was on the varsity soccer team and active in Teen Insti-tute. She worked at Country Livin’ Kennels as an animal caregiver and was a hostess at Panini. Abby also volunteers at Twins Day and at the UH Pediatric Oncology/Hematology Department. In addition, she helped her mom tend the school garden, as well. Her projected major is Biology/Marine Science.
I was very pleased to present Abby with our club’s scholarship and wish her much luck and success in college.

Members of the Nordonia Garden Club vis-ited the TGC Herb Garden on a very hot day in July. Their umbrellas came in very handy that day. Rita Grabrovsek, Herb Garden Maintenance Committee Chairperson, met with them. The discussion focused on the “History and Magic of Herbs.” The ladies were amazed at the origin of some of the herbs and had a lot of fun hearing about the old magical uses for some of them. We look forward to hosting other groups who would like to visit. Rita Gabrovsek

Many of the visitors to the gardens found them inspirational and appreciated being able to talk to the home-owners and ask questions. They also appreciated the hostesses and found them very helpful with answer-ing questions.

Garden Tour Continued
7
Since some of the visitors spent more time then they expected visiting the home gardens, they said they would certainly take the time, on another day, to go back and visit the library and VFW gardens.
“I’m so happy the tour
brought atten-tion to these
gardens.” Adele Nykaza
