Features In Depth – Receipt Printer Power Port

The Jupiter features a 24V receipt printer power port that can replace POS printer power supplies.

This allows for a more clutter free POS installation. The Epson TM-T88IV and some other printers can be

purchased without a power supply, providing a cost saving.

The necessary cable is included with the terminal at no charge

Features In Depth – Retail USB

The Jupiter features both a 12V and 24V Retail USB port. Retail USB is a retail specific USB standard that allows for

more power and a clip to hold the cables in. Epson and Metrologic are two examples of companies

offering Retail USB as an interface, and this is increasing. Standard USB devices can also plug into Retail USB

sockets.

Features In Depth –Cash Drawer Port

The Jupiter provides an extremely easy to integrate cash drawer port.

It can be configured for either 12V or 24V. This gives you the flexibility to use legacy 12V drawers or 24V to match current receipt printers.

Cash drawers can be fired by sending data to COM 6.

Features In Depth – Spill Resistance

The Jupiter’s front panel is rated at IP43 which means...

IP4X - Protected against penetration of solid objects larger than 1mm

IPX3 - Protected against spraying water

Also on the fanless terminal there should be no build up of dust on the vents, due to the minimal airflow.

Connectivity – Notes

While the Jupiter has many ports, as with all POS terminals not all of them are standard accessible ports.

Typically there are 5 serial ports that are able to be used, with 4 of these standard DB9 connectors. An extra port is internal and used for the touch panel, and Com 6 is shared with the cash drawer port, so only the cash drawer port or Com 6 can be used.

For USB, one of the 6 available is a proprietary connector that is side mounted for connecting MSR/Smart card reader/Fingerprint reader etc. Leaving 5 ports usable for standard USB devices.
