when built in 1878. The owners of the estate believed that if

you looked after your employees, they would in turn look after

you and Foxglove, originally called No.1 Model Cottage, was built

with some of the first cavity walls to help keep the family warm

within. We have tried to keep the look on the outside of the

property in keeping with the era and style but inside it has a more

contemporary feel with lots of light - the decor was very dated and

felt quite dark when we first moved in.”

advantage of the far reaching views we needed our sitting area to be at the top of

the house - the landscape is simply stunning and a constantly changing natural art

through the seasons. Downstairs, we opened up the two rooms to create the hub

of the house with a large kitchen dining room. Woodburning stoves upstairs and

downstairs ensure a cosy cottage feel throughout the home too,” continues Alex.

“We now need to head over towards Wiltshire to be closer to my husband’s family and will be very sad to leave Foxglove and our surrounding neighbours - renowned for being

Leave Newbury via the A339 heading south and at the Swan roundabout take the second exit for the A34 and then turn immediately left to Burghclere, as you start to ascend turn left into Jonathan Hill and left again where the Village Hall is sign posted.
