Poppe & Philippe Poppe - Since 1994 New Additions | Auction | Encyclopedia | Shell Topics April 08, 2019 Last week we got a considerable work charge full of surprises which even interrupted the constant flux of OFFER OF THE DAY emails, special listings and the like. Not the least: we could not find the time to prepare an auction. But now all ended good and we are back on track, although the coming week will have a full charge of events also. We do our best to finalize an auction. If not possible, you will get informed in advance. Few people suspect the work behind our auctions: apart from selecting for hours shells, to arrive at an expected 21 or 24 pieces, the auction takes one day full to photograph and prepare the digital images. In order to get the most exact results, we use artificial daylight for the photography and calibrated screens. In fact, both these tools are used for all of the shells, even the cheapest one. But the artistic input is merely the work of Jerlyn, which many among you know already - especially also from her visit to Europe two years ago. At the same time, Sheila will look up information about the shells concerned, which will allow me to finish the text in one go in 6 to 8 hours. The final half day is used by Philippe who double checks the quality and exactitude of the photos, Sheila who rereads and corrects my texts, and myself double checking for a last amelioration the photographs, rereading all and correcting where necessary. Mistakes sometimes still slip in, but it is rather uncommon. The full scale of events is 32 hours of manpower for the 24 shells auctioned. Back to the present: we are now all the happy victims of Nikon: these Japanese clever people came up with what all naturalists are missing since born: a tool to photograph far away animals in a perfect way, with an affordable camera. This is the newly born NIKON COOLPIX P1000. If you are fast with your supplier of camera material and you maintain a gentle relation with him - you will get one. The thing costs around 1000 euro (in this case "only"). This camera was announced but finally touched the public with only one year of delay, for some obscure reason. Philippe got his NEWSLETTER: THE BEGINNING OF APRIL
