I always thought summer was supposed to be

the time at work where it was a more relaxed

atmosphere, because a lot of people are taking

off work to go on vacation and get away. Well, I

am learning that at a college

ministry summer is just

another name for “busy

time of the year.” This is

the time of year when Cam-

pus Outreach has some of

their biggest impact and

outreach times. All the dif-

ferent franchises in the

Campus Outreach commu-

nity have Summer Beach

Projects going on around

the south. The one that I

am most directly involved

with (Campus Outreach:

Birmingham) has over 100

college students from six

different campuses all in one

hotel in Destin, Florida. This

is a great time for the CO

leadership and campus staff

to have one-on-one life in-

teraction with the students.

In the ten weeks the stu-

dents are there they learn

how to daily walk with God,

as well as how to share their faith with practical

experience on the beach and at their summer

jobs.

I was able to attend a Summer Beach

Project way back in the year 1992. It was a life

changing experience. I was able to see how de-

voted and serious Christian men lived their lives

daily and how to live my faith in all areas of life,

not just on Sunday morning. It was there that I

first saw a vision of the need for missionaries

around the world to bring the good news of salva-

tion through Jesus Christ alone.

In addition to the Summer

Beach Projects that are going

on, Campus Outreach also

sponsors several overseas

projects that go to Thailand,

Brazil, and Mexico. These

projects have the same intent

as the Beach Projects, but on

a smaller scale, as each team

consists of around 40 people.

How does all this

affect me? Well, it requires

me to be a little more flexible

in my work time. Most of the

staff are in different locations

for the summer and some-

times working out the kinks of

a new location takes a little

patience. Everything has been

going well and all the projects

are doing great. I was able to

take a trip down to Destin to

get some staff training with

the CO: Birmingham staff. I

enjoyed the time there, be-

cause it allowed me to get to

know the staff a little better and enable me to put

some faces with the email names and phone num-

bers that I had become accustomed to. It was also

good for them to see that I am not a complete

computer nerd and can actually hold a conversa-

tion with a person that doesn’t involve computers!

PRAISE &

PRAYER

We are continually thankful

for all that you do for us. We

are so amazed at the over-

whelming generosity and

love that you have for us and

for this ministry. It is such a

privilege to provide com-

puter support to a ministry

that is about seeking and

training the next generation

of believers.

We give praise to our God

for his continued blessing of

health in our family. The kids

have adjusted well back to

the Birmingham living envi-

ronment. We were a little

nervous about changing cli-

mates, but they seem to be

doing great and with little

health issues.

We would like to ask for

prayer about our finances.

During the transition from

Wycliffe we noticed that we

were miscalculating a bit on

our monthly living budget.

All of our financial support

has continued to come in on

target, but our actual com-

mitment levels are lower

than they should be. Would

you pray that we would be

diligent in the next steps of

seeking additional monthly

support partners?

The stars are shone bright

in the west of the sea.

I’ll love God forever.

The angels are in heaven

and Jesus too.

I will love everything

that He gave for me and you.

When a snowflake will fall,

I’ll still love Jesus.

I will love Jesus forever.

If I die,

I’ll still love Jesus.

So I’ll love Jesus forever

and ever.

I know that he’s with me

and so I’ll love Him forever

and ever.

But when we die,

we’ll still live

forever and ever.

I’ll love Him and love Him

until the end of my days.

And So I’ll Love Him A Poem by Rebekah Schofield

We’ve been back in Birming-

ham six months and would like to say

settled into a routine. Of course, with

life and its changes the definition of

“routine” changes often as well. It

seems every week there is a new activ-

ity or something that keeps us running

around. A big praise is an improvement

in Rachel’s asthma since we’ve been

back. Rebekah finished up her first

grade year of homeschooling and has

made great

strides in

her reading

a b i l i t y .

While as a

parent you

love to see

your chil-

dren read, a

greater joy

arises seeing

your children begin to read the scrip-

tures for themselves. Bekah has a love

for God and often makes up poems or

songs in praise to God. We pray ear-

nestly that this love for God and His

Word will be a constant source of

comfort and strength for her in her life.

Rachel is beginning to ask more

questions as her mind is able to grasp

more difficult concepts of God. She is

truly interested in Bible stories and is

very particular about making sure she

gets peoples names and places correct.

We pray for her to be open to receiv-

ing God’s Word and to truly under-

stand her need for a Savior.

W e

thank the

Lord for all

y o u r

prayers and

s u p p o r t .

While mov-

ing away

and quickly

moving back

was a bit

unsettling, it is obvious we are right

where God wants us to be. And by

God working through you all that has

been made possible. We appreciate

every part you play in our ministry and

our lives. Shawn
