Council News
The Shire of Corrigin has recently undertaken a review of the Strategic Community Plan. During April and May community members were invited to “Have Your Say” via community Surveys and/or attendance at the Community Workshop held on Monday 22nd May 2017 at the Corrigin Recreation & Events Centre. Your responses and input gave us valuable insight into your vision for the future.
Consultant Jessica Spark from Moore Stevens (WA), was engaged to oversee this important process, collecting information covering a broad range of matters, which have contributed to the Shire of Corrigin Strategic Community Plan, sharing the visions and aspirations for our future. The Strategic Community Plan outlines how the Shire will, over the long term, work towards a brighter future for the Shire of Corrigin community, as it seeks to achieve its vision inspired by the community’s aspirations.

Notice is hereby given that the Shire of Corrigin has prepared the abovementioned town planning scheme amendment for the following purpose: “1. That the local government, in pursuance of Section 75 of the Planning and Development Act 2005 (as amended), resolve to amend the
Shire of Corrigin Local Planning Scheme No.2 by:
Recoding all lots classified ‘Residential’ zone in the Corrigin townsite from R12.5 to R20; Amending the Scheme Maps accordingly; Delete the current wording in Clause 5.2.1 of the Scheme Text and insert the following new wording:

development of a lot for the purposes of grouped dwellings at a maximum density of R40 on a lot/s greater than 1,500m² within any area coded R20 on the Scheme Map, subject to advertising of the required development application pursuant to Clause 6.3; and
(b) in determining any development application lodged pursuant to Sub-Clauses (a) above the local government shall

2. That the local government determine that this proposed amendment to the Shire of Corrigin Local Planning Scheme No.2 is a “Standard

CATS & DOGS Responsible Pet Ownership...
Responsible ownership includes caring for your pet's welfare needs, along with registration, microchipping and adequate confinement to your property.
If you own a dog or a cat, you must:
Register each dog & cat you own with the Shire of Corrigin
Keep your dog on a leash when walking it in public
Clean up your dog’s faeces when walking in public places
Keep your dog confined to your property at all other times
Make sure your dog doesn’t bark persistently
Stop your dog or cat straying onto another person’s
property
Prevent your dog chasing or attacking people or other
animals
You can be fined for breaking the law relating to dogs and cats and may also have to pay a release fee if your animals are found wandering and are impounded by Shire.
WHY DO I NEED TO REGISTER MY DOG? It is required under the Dog Act 1976 for all dogs over three months of age to be registered with the local government. It’s important for both the general community and their dogs that the Shire of Corrigin has a record of dogs and their owners. Registration allows the Shire to provide for better facilities and conditions for responsible dog owners. Your dog is required to wear a collar with a valid registration tag attached. This tag will be issued by the Shire when you pay your registration fee. The benefits of registration are: Positive identification of your dog Reuniting lost or injured dogs with their owners Investigation and resolution of dog problems Encouraging desexing of dogs through discounted
registration fees. The period of dog registration runs from 1 November to 31 October, regardless of when the dog is actually registered. Your dog can be registered for 1 year, 3 years or a lifetime.
Further information on Responsible Dog & Cat Ownership is available on the Shire of Corrigin website.
RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP
