January 2018 President’s Message
Ho!Ho!Ho!
I trust you all enjoyed the Christmas dinner/dance at Palo
Verde and had a wonderful Christmas and New Year’s celebra-
tions. And don’t forget all those New Year’s resolutions that
we’ll undoubtedly break in the next month or two.
A resolution from the Roadrunner’s Board that we won’t break
is that in 2018 we aim to provide you with the best RV rallies
we can possibly stage. I think we have a line-up to do just that
with one minor change. It appears we cannot find an RV park
to host us in February at the time of the Tubac Art Fair south-
west of Tucson. So we’re going to have to relocate that rally to
another destination. Wagonmaster Ron Doggett and his co-
wagonmasters, Don & Lisa Wall and Bob & Ann Selzer are
looking at Benson, southeast of Tucson, as a possible replace-
ment. From there you can out to Karchner Caverns, Tomb-
stone, Fort Huachuca and other excursion sites. Looks like a
fun possibility. Ron will have more to share on this at the Janu-
ary club meeting on the 9th
I hope you’re all going to be able to make the RV Club pizza
fest the Chandler Elks Club, 1775 W. Chandler Blvd. on January
18th at 6:00 PM. This is a good opportunity to meet club mem-
bers you haven’t had a chance to touch base with and enjoy
some pizza, salad, and beverages (drinks will be purchased
separately) as well. Please tell either Susan Hatcher or Barb
Clark at the membership desk if you’re planning to attend so
we’ll have some idea of how many pizzas to order in advance.
Hope to see you there and at the club meeting on the 9th.
Your President Mike Skibo

Website –Mike Skibo suggested that the fate of the website should be decided in the Fall.
Equipment – There has been a volunteer to assume the responsibility of Chairperson of this com-
mittee
Refreshments – Mike Skibo will announce that there will be no refreshments at the October meeting
if a volunteer for Chairperson of this committee does not come forward.
New business – It is necessary to make it a responsibility of each member to act as a Wagon Master.
Several other RV organizations already do this. After much discussion it was decided that each
member must volunteer to be a Wagon Master by the end of their third year of membership in order
to remain a member in good standing. To accomplish this it will be necessary to revise the Wagon
Master Procedure document and The By-Laws. The Membership Form will also be revised in order
to make prospective members aware of this club participation expectation. It was also suggested
that the club might provide Wagon Master training and make the Wagon Master Procedure docu-
ment available for review at each meeting. (After the meeting, continued discussions of the Board
concluded that new members, to be active participants, will be expected to either become an Officer,
a Committee Chair or a Wagon Master by the conclusion of their third year of membership.)
The meeting was adjourned at 11:20 AM.
Respectfully submitted, Pat Prekel, Secretary
