60 countries with its total exports reaching Rs. 3274.74
crores in the year 2006-07. Malaysia and UAE are two of its
major importers but export to these countries is subject
to regular inspection of slaughter houses and meat
processing units.
OnAPEDA's initiation a 3 member delegation from the UAE
and a 10 member delegation from Malaysia visited Indian
slaughterhouses.They were completely satisfied by the food
safety procedures adopted and approved export of meat and
meat products from the inspected meat processing plants
and slaughterhouses.
This initiative will surely give a boost to the export of meat
and meat products which includes sheep and goat meat and
also buffalo boneless meat.
