THANKSGIVING
Thanksgiving is a wonderful opportunity to show our gratitude for the many blessing we receive all year. We are grateful for our wonderful team members who take such great care of our residents. There is always so much work to do, so it is nice to have a time designated for gratitude. The Honey Baked Hams provided by JCFS Company, for their Thanksgiving meal, are a gift of thankfulness to our team members and residents.
Mental Health Basics: The term Mental Health is commonly used in reference to mental illness. However, knowledge in the field has progressed to a level that appropriately differentiates the two. Although mental health and mental illness are related, they represent different psychological states. Mental Health is “a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community.”. There is emerging evidence that positive mental health is associated with improved health outcomes. Mental Illness is defined as “collectively all diagnosable mental disorders” or “health conditions that are characterized by alterations in thinking, mood, or behavior (or some combination thereof) associated with distress and /or impaired functioning.

Above and Beyond the Scope of Work
Thank you to Jerome and all the staff who enabled JCFS residents to have the opportunity to vote November 8, 2016 .
A huge congratulation to Jerome on graduating from UNR. He obtained a degree in General Studies. Way to go!
Flying Diamond Pharmacy owner, Wanda Hill, and Pharmacist came to do part of JCFS Scope of Work Training in November. They were very helpful in explaining the pharmacy process and enlightening JCFS as to which medication would be considered Scheduled Controlled Substances. The guest speakers brought an interesting element of helping us to see “ the voice on the phone” of one of the pharmacies that provide medications for our clients.

of JCFS for all they do and an amazing 2016.
Merry Christmas to all from JCFS. We celebrated this Holy Season by decorating our homes and having a team member and client Christmas party at the Sparks Coconut Bowl. All who attended had a great time. JC Family Services had gifts for all the staff and clients.
