Hello to our parents, caregivers and families,

What a wonderful 2 weeks it has been as we celebrate the 2018 school year. We have enjoyed many wonderful events to not only acknowledge the efforts of students, staff and the community in 2018, but usher in what we expect to be an exciting 2019.

On Monday 3rd December, our local Lockridge Anglican Church provided a lovely BBQ lunch and puppet show, to wish the students and staff a happy end to the school year. It was wonderful to have so many local volunteers from our community help on the day, adding to the positive experience. We thank the Lockridge Anglican Church for providing this experience, as well as supporting our Chaplaincy program in 2019. Thank you to Miss Rachel Kelly for coordinating this event.

On Wednesday 5th December, we had a visit from our incoming 2019 Kindy students, as they enjoyed ‘Stay & Play’. A strong turnout was seen, with a majority of students set to join us in 2019 on hand to have some fun. It is pleasing to see so many eager parents, keen to add to the Lockridge PS community, many for the first time, and I wish all our soon to be Kindy students a wonderful few weeks, before they begin their formal education journey. Thank you to Mrs Moorman, Mrs Eddy, Mr Flahavin and other staff who supported this learning opportunity.

For those lucky enough to be in attendance on Tuesday this week, we enjoyed a fantastic Year 6 Graduation Ceremony. Thanks must go to Mr Kriziotis, Miss Hedington and Mr Weser for their work to coordinate the event, and all the other staff who supported the students, as they enjoyed the last, formal school assembly. Congratulations to all the Year 6 students, not just those announced as award winners. As I said in my speech, Lockridge PS will always be ‘YOUR’ school, and I hope you will look back at many of the memories with happiness and pride. Congratulations also to our 2019 student leaders in Joshua (Head Boy), Arnold (Deputy Head Boy), Annie (Head Girl) and Eva-May (Deputy Head Girl).

With this being the final newsletter for 2018, I find it important to acknowledge some key people. Firstly, I thank our staff, not only for their work in my time thus far at Lockridge PS, but for their efforts throughout what has been, at times, a challenging 2018. To those moving on, I wish you all the very best in the next chapter. I thank our parents, carers and community members for their efforts to support the teaching and learning programs we offer. A strong relationship between the home and school is essential for students success and I know we share a desire to make sure our students become and remain strong and successful. Finally, I thank our students, for whom without, we would not be here. I am excited about what lies ahead and know we will continue to see great things from our students, when they maintain a positive approach, set high standards, work to keep our school safe and show care, respect and understanding.

I wish all our families a safe and happy holiday break, and look forward to your return in February 2019.
