Sycip, Ed Francisco, Bong Bernas '78, Butch Jimenez '81, Carolyn Que Pe Ching '92, Voltaire Veneracion '91, Scott Judy '01, Nico Jose '05, and Mark Wilson '78.

Events & Reunions

Last February 18, 2014, community members and guests gathered in the newly renovated Amelita Martinez Ramos (AMR) Hall. Current and former faculty, alumni, and parents attended the much-anticipated inauguration. The hall is completely new and refurbished with retractable seating. Tri-M Music Honor Society members treated guests with a musical show. The AMR Hall is dedicated to the longest serving member of ISM’s faculty and administration. When ISM found a new home at Fort Bonifacio in 2002, Mrs. Ramos and her family made a generous contribution to the development of the Performing Arts facilities, reflecting her own love for music as well as her abiding commitment to the school. Along with husband, former Philippine President Fidel V. Ramos, Mrs. Ramos is an Honorary Member of the ISM community.

Dear ISM Community Members

and Friends around the World,

We are extremely happy to report

that the ten classrooms at the

Central Estancia Elementary

School have been completed. On

May 13, 2014 a small ceremony

was held in one of the large bright

classrooms in the newly

renovated building that may also

serve as an evacuation center

should the need arise.

Yolanda Update # 6 May 20, 2014

Left: Grade 2 students and teachers pose with ISM representatives, Ayala Land representatives, and local government officials. Right: ISM Superintendent David Toze addresses the Estancia community.

In attendance were members from the local government, Hon. Mayor Rene Cordero,

and from the Department of Education, Dr. Jerlie M. Fecundo, alongside Ayala Land

Foundation representative Ms. Joy Grace Sanciang with Estancia Central School

Principal Dr. Gerry J. Tingson, ISM Superintendent, David Toze, Director of Operations

and Security, Mike Flynn, Service Learning Coordinator, Neil H. Woods and the Director

of Admissions and Advancement, Stephanie H. Hagedorn ’90.

Guests were treated to two performances by the incoming Grade 2 classes and their

teachers for school year 2014-2015, which will commence in June. Parents in

attendance expressed their deep gratitude for all those that made contributions to

support the reconstruction. A plaque in recognition of all those who have donated

through ISM now hangs prominently at the entrance of the main building.

Despite this progress, the Central School is far from being back to normal. There are

many classrooms that remain unsafe and in disrepair. The one area where ISM and the

Principal of Estancia feel needs attention is the Auditorium/Gymnasium, which, as the

photos below show, is still in a state of ruin.

State of the gymnasium as of May 2014. Super typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) hit Estancia last November 2013.

This area serves as the sports facility for the students but is the one shaded area that

can accommodate families for graduation ceremonies and school productions. It is our

aim to rebuild this structure to serve the curricular, co-curricular and community

needs of the school.

Our Service Learning program aims to empower students to address issues of real

importance at both local and global levels. As an integral part of ISM’s Mission,

sustainability lies at the core of our school's vision. Keeping this in mind, it is our

intention to forge a lasting relationship with our students and those that attend the

Central School, which serves over 3000+ Elementary children. In school year 2014-

2015, ISM celebrates 95 years of service, and we hope to make our contribution to

Estancia Central School a special part of our celebration.

homes, families, and lives.

elegant but fun visual composition. I

wished to keep the composition simple

with color patterns to incorporate the idea

of celebration. The main colors were red,

blue, yellow, and green to represent the

Philippines and ISM.”
