Wytana’s new role as Outreach Worker

A new venue for our Mutton Birders Ball!

After 9 years in reception I am starting a new role as the Launceston Aboriginal Outreach Worker. My role includes working within the Aboriginal Health Service supporting patients to improve their health outcomes & delivering health promotion activities. I would appreciate any health promotion ideas you think would be beneficial to our community. I will miss talking to you over the phone or at the desk each day, but the change will have a positive impact for our community. Thank you for helping me grow and learn over the years. Les Beeton joined our Cardio Pulmonary Group in October

2016. When he commenced the program Les was using a

walker to assist him to get around and was unable to stand

unsupported.

Les no longer uses his walker and is seen daily walking around

his local area. Les has quit smoking and the grog. Les can now

play football with his young son Jarrod and has continued to

participate twice a week in the maintenance group and

catches the bus in from Deloraine.

Les is a great example in our community of a waypa who has a

self-determined approach to his health outcomes.

The Launceston Aboriginal Health Service runs 3 Cardio Pulmonary programs every year,

we can support anyone who may be wanting a lifestyle change.

If you want to make a change like Les, speak to Rachel at the Health service today!
