ISSUE 2MORGAN A. TESTIMONIAL ORLANDO EDITION

My name is Morgan A. My

    sobriety date is July 7th

    , 2013. I joined

the Orlando Bid for FCYPAA at a time

when I had found myself lost and

searching for a way out of a very dark

time in my life. I was unable to cope

with the reality of my life and the

    traumatic events were continuing to

pile up around me. I experienced eight

deaths in six weeks, an incredibly

    painful heartbreak, and two sexual

assaults. At the start of this year, I was

ready to drink. If I were to be

rigorously, I would admit to you that I

was even contemplating my own life. I

was so desperate to experience peace

and serenity again that I found myself

willing to go to any lengths to find it. I

took the position of Events Chair for the

Orlando Bid. I had thrown myself

    completely into planning, organizing,

and outreaching for Orlando Bid events,

that I suddenly realized the pain and

heartache I was so consumed with had

been relieved. Seeing the change it

    inspired in other members, including

the newcomer, as well as the changes in

myself, I knew that I had made an

amazing decision. Something that I had

fought so hard against throughout my

    sobriety, YPAA reminded me how

important it is that I use my story to

help others and most importantly, sho

the newcomer that recovery is possible

and we no longer need to allow the

mistakes of our past define the

individuals we are becoming in the

present. YPAA not only changed my

outlook upon life, young people, and th

    program of Alcoholics Anonymous.

YPAA saved my life at a time when I n

longer felt I was worth saving. That, in

    itself, is a miracle.
