Word.” In January, I preached from Genesis and Exodus. This month my sermons will be from:
February 4: Leviticus 1-15; February 11: Leviticus 16-27; February 18: Numbers 1-25; February 25: Numbers 26-36
As I look out over the coming months, I am excited about the possibilities and for what God will do in and through Mount Pisgah Church as we transition into a new season.
The SPRC met on Sunday night, January 28th and would like to report that they are looking to fill two staff positions by the end of May. Rev. Kim Miller and her family will be moving back to Ohio. She will be appointed in the West Ohio Conference of the UMC, and Bryant will accept a position in his hometown as a teacher and football coach. Her decision to move comes alongside her recognition that this has been the most gracious, loving Church she has served. She is truly thankful for the opportunity to have served at Mount Pisgah. Her decision is based upon the best interest of her family and their needs during this season. Her last Sunday will be June 24th. The SPRC, therefore, is beginning a search for a Director of Children’s Ministries.
Additionally, Dayna Paslay has served as Interim Director of Youth since last August. She is graduating in May with her Master of Science in speech pathology. She will transition into her career and out of our interim position. The SPRC is also, now, looking for a Director of Youth Ministries. We would like to fill both positions by the end of May 2018. I ask you to add the new staff and the transitions of Dayna and Kim to your prayers. Kim also served as the Director of Communications. We will need to fill this position as well. This position could be combined with the Children or Youth position or be independent. If you know of anyone who may have the correct skill set and would be interested, please direct
their resume to Pam Inman ([email protected]) no later than March 7th.
In the worship, discipleship and missional life of Mount Pisgah, there is much toward which to look forward. There will be a special Ash Wednesday service on Wednesday, February 14th at 7:00pm with Rev. Donald Thomas preaching. A love offering with be taken for UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief ). I encourage everyone to sign up for and support Wednesday Night Fellowship meals and classes. These help to build the fellowship and spiritual growth of the Church. This month, we are praying to have at least 40 men sign up to go on our first men’s retreat to Camp Cheerio, April 20th-22nd.
By the end of the month, the 27-person mission team heading to Costa Rica will have tickets bought and be ready to travel from April 2nd-8th. Also, it looks like I will be taking 20+ on the mission trip to South Dakota. Our first team meeting is on February 11th from 2:30-3:30pm. If you still are feeling a desire to go, please contact me ASAP. Rev. Donald Thomas and Vickie Apple had 19 people attend an information meeting about going on mission to Henderson Settlement in Kentucky, September 4th-8th. Please see Donald or Vickie with any questions. Don Cohan, leader of the Emergency Response Team, is currently deciding the dates of the team’s quarterly trips in 2018. If you’d like to be involved, contact Don at [email protected].
We welcomed several new members in January, and we are excited to join with them on the journey of faith. Kwane Amponsah joined by profession of faith on January 7th. Gary Linville joined by profession of faith and Ashley Linville joined by transfer from Mt. Olivet UMC in Galax, VA on January 14th. They have a son named Dalton. Finally, Joyce Adams joined by transfer from Irving Park UMC on January 28th.
Finally, thank you for a strong January in support of all the ministries at Mount Pisgah.

Young Adult Ministry
January 1st-3rd, a group of 14 young adults from Mount Pisgah went to the Passion Conference in Atlanta, GA. God truly spoke into the lives of the group. We had an opportunity to grow spiritually and also together with one another. I am excited to see how God can continue to work in the lives of those who had the opportunity to attend the Passion Conference.
The Young Adult Sunday School class meets every Sunday in the Agape Room on the 2nd floor at 11:00am. We currently discuss the day’s sermon and talk about ways we can apply it to our lives.
On February the 11th, the young adults will be meeting in the Agape Room from 3:00-5:00pm to go over a new worship service opportunity starting in May. This will be a great opportunity for young adults to be informed but also to discuss new ideas. Childcare will be provided.

Children’s MinistryA Thank you NoteFrom my heart to all of yours, please accept my sincere gratitude for the care, concern, prayers, and gifts of food, gift cards, gas money, etc. that you provided for my family since our newborn, Maylee, got sick at Christmas.
Maylee is doing much better. She is still medically fragile and unable to be out and about during flu season, but she has found her smile again and is growing like any other 6-week old.
As many of you know, the circumstances around Maylee’s health and our families’ well-being have caused us to make the decision to return to our home state of Ohio this coming June. It is with sad hearts that we make this decision because of the absolute love we have grown to have for the Church family at Mount Pisgah. This is truly the most gracious and caring Church we have experienced and you all have changed us for the better.
There are many good things coming for the Children’s Ministry at Mount Pisgah in the coming months and in the years ahead. I can’t wait to be a part of the upcoming Easter season events (Egg hunts, Ash Wednesday, Holy Week), special kids’ opportunities (SuperStart Conference, camps), and Vacation Bible School. I am also in prayer for the next individual who God will lead to take the reigns of this ministry, and am very excited for what He will do as we move forward!
Thank you again for who you are as a community of faith and friends to my family. We are better for having been a part of this Church.
Be blessed,
Kim Miller

Dear Mt Pisgah family,
What a blessing this church family is! Thank you for all the prayers, calls, texts, emails, cards and memorials for my brother, Billy Faucette. I know that he is no longer suffering and is in a better place. Thank you for caring for and loving me as part of the church family. Blessings and love to each of you, Dee F. Earl
LuAnn & Women of Mt. Pisgah,
Thank you so much for providing a meal following the funeral of Howard Stack. Your thoughtfulness and generosity was greatly appreciated by the family. We appreciate your support during this difficult time.
Sincerely, Frank & Anita Stack
To my Mount Pisgah Church Family,
Thank you so much for all the visits, cards, flowers, and gifts of cookies and food you have generously given me since my fall in May. I appreciate so much the visits from Rev. Jeff Johnsen and Cody Johnsen. They have meant so much to me. I also am grateful for those persons who have brought communion to me. Mount Pisgah means a lot to me, and I am grateful to all who extended love, prayers and concern during my cancer surgery and all the days following. May God bless each of you.
Sincerly, Frances Osmint
