What makes it even more special is the fact that this happened amidst one of the worst economic downturns in history, current only second to the so- called great depression of the 1930’s. Haydn will share more details with you in his column, but again allow me to thank all of you. It really is an honour to be part of such a superb team of very special people. Now back to the other very current topic in our world as discussed in the previous edition; GLOBALISATION I mentioned previously about the progress made in the UK in the very short space of only a few months. Since the previous report, the full brunt of the global economic crisis struck Europe with an absolute vengeance, and the UK has now officially slipped into recession. For the less economically minded people amongst us, it means that the UK economy is officially shrinking, people are spending less than before, businesses are producing less product than before, unemployment is on the increase, many smaller businesses are taking strain and in many cases closing down, projects are being put on hold. In short, all major industries are under severe pressure to survive. In the context of the above, many a doom prophet might have predicted the same outcome for our small fledgling UK operation. However, I am extremely proud to announce that since then, the permanent staff complement has grown from 7 to 10, but not only that, our EOH Global Testing Services business landed an incredible order to deliver off-shore testing services to Centrica as part of our global partnership with Experior. In summary, what we do see is that with the right levels of strategic planning, direction and execution, we might even prove to turn the current climate into opportunity. Hi everyone. It is great to be sharing with you who EOH Europe is, what we do and where we fit in. Thank you for inviting

our team to the sales breakaway and after a very ‘enlightening” 2 days with the Gallium team we can honestly say we look forward to many more.EOH Europe is a registered UK business. We started recruiting in May 2008 and are currently a team of 10, soon to be around 40 with our new GTS division.We are a wholly owned subsidiary of EOH and as such we are trying to create our own brand, value proposition & credibility.EOH Europe is an HP Platinum Partner and a company with an emerging client list, no company would be ashamed of.Our offerings include Business Service Management, Testing and Portfolio Management. Our immediate objectives is to focus on services and not just software.

As we close off yet another successful financial period (Half Year) for both Gallium and EOH, it’s probably a good time to take stock of where we are in a market and economic climate that is

considered to be in turmoil…Gallium and EOH continue to move from strength to strength, EOH’s acquisitions of REO, HighveldPFS and CA have been some of the most significant acquisitions that the market has seen in a while, and strengthen EOH’s position in the market considerably. Gallium has had another solid half year, slightly behind on our projected revenue, but ahead in terms of our profitability, showing that we now have a management team in place that can run this business effectively. We continue to grow and expand, investing time, effort and finances in our business and in our people, and your management team are working very hard to deliver on KPI assessments, staff development plans, training and ultimately the delivery of our projects.The market in general is still very much on an extreme roller coaster, as the Rand continues to swing erratically against world currencies, companies like Anglo American are reeling from market pressures, and the petrol price hops around like a psychotic bunny, but the upside is that the repo rate has and looks set to drop further, companies like Discovery (and EOH) are still prospering, and our banks have been relatively well protected against the worldwide financial crisis. Add to this the fact that 2010 is just around the corner, and that our customers simply cannot afford to panic and stop spending money with us, and most importantly, that you all work for EOH, one of the most stable ICT businesses in the country right now, and just maybe the future for us is quite bright…It has taken a lot of hard work to deliver a good performance for the half year, so my thanks to each and every one of you for the commitment, effort and sometimes sacrifice that each of you contribute to our success, I know it isn’t always easy…•Jhb promotions: Congratulations Kribin Moodley for being promoted to Solution Delivery Manager.

On Tuesday 10 February the sales, pre-sales, and EOH Global teams met up at Nutbush Boma Lodge in Hekpoort for two days to go over the performance for the quarter, discuss ideas for the next quarter and share news and ideas regarding our various solutions, status on various clients and discuss skills plans. Sue Martin, Ronnette Fenton and Gillian O’Shea, our new marketing lead also joined. Carla, Group Marketing for EOH was also invited.Awards handed out by Haydn to:•Mike Dean for reaching 145% over target at half quarter•Ronnette Fenton for all her support and efforts with the staff•Pieter Wagenaar for his support of the sales team and maintenance on client accounts•Ursula Riemer for bringing in a deal on the last day of the quarter•Kleo received a car air freshener as he is in need of some blingin his life•And last but not least Johan Cloete received emergency triangles for always getting stuck with his car.

Launch of Social CommitteeGallium is growing from strength to strength and with growth, such as we have experienced, the challenge becomes how do we stay in contact with everyone out in the field, share news and communicate successes and operational issues.

One of the ways to tackle this is via our new website but on a social level we thought it would be a great idea to establish a social committee to ensure we all meet from time to time and stay in touch. There are over 130 people working for Gallium so this is a challenge.

Ursula Riemer, Key Account Manager has been nominated (☺ ) as chairman of the committee but we are looking for people interested in becoming members and assisting in our various initiatives.
