Unconventional gas in the USA and Latin America to be featured in panel Professional of the future innovates with video competition Business round expands concept of anchor companies The program related to gas explo- ration & production at the Rio Oil & Gas will address three main topics: The Future of the Gas Market in Bra- zil, Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Unconventional Gas (particularly shale gas, or recoverable gas from shale rocks). IBP’s Gas Manager, Jorge Delmonte, points out that, among the main issues to be discussed during the event, the perspective of having LNG become a commodity and the possibility of the United States be- gin to export shale gas stand out, as it would represent a strong impact over its prices worldwide. Delmonte explains that, after the tragedy that happened with the Fu- kushima nuclear plant in Japan, the gas thermal power generation as- sumed “great and instantaneous” importance. Therefore, the debates on the perspective of LNG becoming a commodity also gained more im- portance. During the Rio Oil & Gas, the pros and cons this change, which may result in higher volatility to the product price, will be discussed. As regards to the Unconventional Gas, in addition to the debates on the perspectives of the decisions in America, the possibility of produc- tion of this hydrocarbon in Latin- American territory - including Brazil, as well as the economic feasibil- ity for exploration and distribution worldwide will also be in the discus- sion agenda. Besides these three major lines of discussion, members of the audi- ence particularly interested in the gas market may have their access granted to debates on subtopics such as the LNG issue in Asia, the possibility of producing this gas in shorte scale in some countries, or the advantages of a possible but difficult gas integration in Latin America via LNG. The traditional panel on gas in Bra- zil will highlight topics such as the competitiveness of the product in the country, in addition to the trans- port network planning and expan- sion. One of the key points of the discussion will be on infrastructure issues for gas logistics. With a view to stimulating students who participate in the traditional Rio Oil & Gas’ program Professional of the Future, the Brazilian Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels Institute (IBP) will be holding the competition “De Olho no Futuro” (Looking out for the future). Those students interested must de- velop a video of up to two minutes, to be prepared individually, on the topic “Developing National Training for the Oil & Gas Industry”. Partici- pants must be aged 18 - 35 and en- rolled in the Program Professional of the Future, as well as advanced fluency in English. The youngsters will ensure visibil- ity of their work even if they are not among the winners, as the selection process will be held via YouTube, be- tween July 23 and August 31. The videos broadcast will be assessed by IBP’s Youth Committee. The ten vid- eos most accessed will be selected for final apraisal by the Committee. The winning video will be announced in the beginning of September, also in each block of talks, during Rio Oil & Gas 2012’s Professional of the Fu- ture Program. In addition, the winner will be awarded a registration for the World Petroleum Congress’ Youth Forum, to be held in Calgary, Canada, in October 2013. Besides the new competition this year, the program Professional of the Future will receive about 750 stu- dents per day, who will have access a comprehensive program includ- ing talks and round tables. The par- ticipants must be enrolled in courses related to the oil & gas chain, from the 7th term on. Further information available at http://www.ceuconsul- toria.com/profissionaldofuturo2012. This year, the Rio Oil & Gas Business Round, organized by the Brazilian Organization of the Oil & Gas Indus- try (Onip) and Sebrae, will introduce flexibility into the concept of anchor companies, with the participation of major local entrepreneurial groups and large manufacturers. Accord- ing to Onip’s superintendent, Bruno Musso, the aim is to involve a greater number of small companies as offer- ors of products and services, “in order to expand the opportunities within the traditional concept of strength- ening of the supply chain”. Traditionally, only operators, ship- yards, EPCists and large service providers were invited. According to Musso, the expectation for the Round this year is a greater number of anchors and also suppliers. “It is reasonable to expect better results than those of the previous editions, bearing in mind that the market still remains with growing investments”, he analyzes. The Business Rounds have been part of the Rio Oil & Gas program since 2004. Since then, as pointed out by Bruno Musso, they have consolidated as an instrument to promote busi- ness in the main events of the sec- tor. “We have progressed in improv- ing the methodology, by focusing the fulfillment of the market needs every edition. Today, we can say that the Rounds have become an integral part of the event as a whole, along with the Exhibiton and the Congress”, he says. Onip’s superintendent believes the European economic crisis will not compromise the Round’s results. He defends that the Brazilian oil sector is still heated, with growing domestic demand for by-products. “He have no- ticed an increased interest of the inter- national community for the Brazilian market, and we will promote meetings between foreing and local companies, in order to establish joint ventures to boost the opportunities for local com- panies, in support for the growth of lo- cal content”, he anticipates. Business round expands concept of anchor companies

The program related to gas explo-ration & production at the Rio Oil & Gas will address three main topics: The Future of the Gas Market in Bra-zil, Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Unconventional Gas (particularly shale gas, or recoverable gas from shale rocks).

IBP’s Gas Manager, Jorge Delmonte, points out that, among the main issues to be discussed during the event, the perspective of having LNG become a commodity and the possibility of the United States be-gin to export shale gas stand out, as it would represent a strong impact over its prices worldwide.

With a view to stimulating students who participate in the traditional Rio Oil & Gas’ program Professional of the Future, the Brazilian Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels Institute (IBP) will be holding the competition “De Olho no Futuro” (Looking out for the future).
