‘Fair’ book stall. We would appreciate
childrens, teenagers and books for adults.
They can be fiction or non-fiction. Please
bring them to the office.
What’s in season? - Zucchini Muffins
2 cups of self-raising flour
½ cup diced ham or bacon
1 cup grated zucchini (or pumpkin/ carrot or mixture)
½ cup oil
¾ cup low fat milk
½ cup grated low fat cheese
1 egg
Salt and pepper
Mix all together and bake in muffin tins for approx. 20mins
until golden. This is suitable for mini muffin tins too -Great
eaten warm or cold. These can be frozen individually in
freezer bags and popped in the lunchbox straight from the
freezer.
Pack safe lunches – keeping kids healthy
Use insulated lunch boxes or cooler bags
Pack a frozen drink bottle (popper) or 'built-in' water bottle or
freezer brick inside the lunch box or bag, next to the food
that should be kept cold
Freeze the water bottle half filled, then top up with cold water
before school so there's liquid to drink
If making lunches ahead of time such as the night before, keep
them in the fridge until leaving for school
Ask children to keep packed lunches in a cool, dark place such as a
locker and out of direct sunlight and away from heat
Pack lunches that don't need to be kept cold, such as sandwiches
with spreads like Vegemite™, jam, UHT dairy products, whole
uncut fruits and vegetables. For older children who can open
cans safely try tuna and crackers.

Keeping Kids Hydrated While the weather is warm, it is important to ensure your children
are drinking enough fluids.
Children need ~ 1.5Litres of water per day. On warm days, or, on days when kids have undertaken physical
activity kids may need over 2 litres.
The best hydrating fluid
for children is water. Tips for keeping kids hydrated in the warmer months: Pack a water bottle in your child’s lunch box each day
Freeze the drink bottle the night before and place it in the lunch box for a cool drink throughout the day
Juice based icy poles Offer high water volume foods i.e apples, yoghurt, milk, celery,
cucumber, watermelon etc

From The Principal’s Office
Thanks to Matthew Suter for planning and organising a great day and recruiting volunteers to come along and lend a hand. Thanks to the parents who also came along to lend a hand or encourage their children. School Photo Forms Students will have brought home forms to order school photos which will be taken on Friday March 20. Parents are asked to ensure they read the details on the forms to order their photos online or by returning completed forms and money on photo day. Sibling Portraits can be ordered online or by special envelopes available from the school office.
It was a bonus to have such lovely weather and an extra day to enjoy last weekend. I hope families enjoyed some extra time together to do something special. Student Leadership Team
Thank you to Tahlia Pemberton, Jordan Deszcz and Matty Poels who have been outstanding student leaders for the start of the year. You have been reliable and taken on the responsibilities of being a Student Leader throughout the last four weeks. Congratulations to our newly appointed members of the student leadership team: Dallon Jeffrey Molan, Kaitlyn Cheetham and Brook De Riter. School Athletics Day Well done to all those students participating and giving their very best in the athletic events on Tuesday. The students looked great in their team colours and got into the spirit of encouraging each other as they competed in the various events. It was great to see how much students enjoyed the day.

SPORTS NEWS
On Tuesday the 10th of March we held our Annual Senior School Athletics competition
at Drouin West Primary School. We had a large number of students participate on the
day and by the end I saw lots of ribbons on student’s shirts and hats. Well done to all
students who participated on the day and either qualified to compete at the interschool
completion or collected points for their house team.
In this year’s house competition
we had a tight finish with 1st and
second only being separated by 2
points. This year students received
five house points for coming 1st,
four for coming 2nd, three for coming 3rd, two for coming 4th and one point
for participating in each event. In third place we had Tarago on 337 points,
in second place we had Baw Baw on 448 points and the winners of the
2015 house competition was Strezlecki on 450 points.
A big thankyou to all our staff who worked hard throughout the day. We
were also supported by 5 SEDA students who worked with staff to run the program. A special thanks to the parents who came to
support the students and help us on the day. Thanks to Sarah Smith for running the Vortex competition, Tarn Williams for
helping run the High Jump competition and Julie Thomas for
helping run the 800m event. I would also like to thank Peta
Watson for coming into school and running our Discus
competition. These days don’t go ahead without the support
from our school community and we really appreciate the
support we get.
Students who have qualified for the District Team will be
notified in the next few days and will compete at Geoff Watt
Track in Warragul on Thursday 26th March. Thank you for all
your support.
