Close off unused rooms – Doing this will keep cool air from travelling around your home, and will retain the heat you have generated to a smaller area.

Cover floor boards and laminate- There is nothing worse than cold flooring during the winter, especially with bare feet. To keep your feet warm, and help to retain up to 10% more heat in your home, add carpets and rugs.

Insulation – It might seem costly but can be easy enough. Rolls of insulation can be found at local DIY stores and can be a brilliant vice to retain heat into your home. If you’re not so sure, leave it to a professional. It’s a brilliant money saver, lowering your heating bills in the long run and will keep your home warm all year round.

Keep the heat in – Be wary of any heat you may be losing so keep windows and vents closed. Be aware chimneys can also leak heat, so if you’re not using, why not have a fireplace balloon installed for the colder weather.

Let the sun shine – It might not seem like we have much this time of the year, but make the most of any sunshine we do have. Keep your curtains open during daytime and closed at dusk to retain the warmth.DO bear in mind, your house does need to breathe and ventilate.

Clear your radiators – Don’t have any furniture obstructing your radiators, they’ll only absorb the heat.
