Attendance The whole school a+endance for WE 17/06/16 was 97.92%. This means that this week’s a+endance was above our target of 96.5%. Well done. Thank you for your conFnued support. This week the a+endance league table is as follows: 1st -‐ Mrs Hayman’s and Mrs Heginbotham’s class (Green) with 99.67% 2nd -‐ Miss Dunn’s class (Lilac) with 99.39% 3rd -‐ Mrs Snape’s class (Blue) with 99.33% Each school day is 6 hrs. This week 12.33 hours of educaFon were lost due to appointments and 3.5 hours due to lateness. We need your help to conFnue to reduce these figures. You can help by making sure all rouFne opFcians and dental appointments are made outside of school hours or in the school holidays and that your child a+ends school on Fme every day. If an appointment is unavoidable (e.g. hospital appointments) please ensure your child a+ends school before and aWer it-‐ every minute of every day counts! Thank you.
Tillie (5) and Freddie (3) will be running the 5k Colour Run to raise money for their chosen chariFes. Please help us raise as much money as possible. They have picked their own chariFes for their own special reasons and these can be found on their ‘Just Giving’ pages. The link for their pages can be found below or by copying the link into your browser. We also have sponsor forms if anyone would rather pay cash. Thanks! www.justgiving.com/TillieBenne+2 www.justgiving.com/FreddieBenne+
Repor&ng Absences Please be aware that if your child is absent from school ,and you do not contact us to report the absence , it will be recorded as an unauthorised. Unauthorised absences can be picked up by the a+endance service . This could result in you receiving a Fixed Penalty NoFce and possibly a visit from the School A+endance Officer. You may be required to supply medical evidence for your child's absence and this could be a printed prescripFon label or medical appointment proof to support your child's absence. Contact needs to be made on each day of absence before 9am.
Medica&on– With your authorisaFon we can administer medicaFon to help your child complete their medicaFon course or if they have minor aliments such as coughs / colds / headache to help them through a school day . Please see the office if you would like to discuss administering medicaFon on your behalf. Please ensure ALL medicaFon is brought to the office. Thank you.
To help us keep our school head lice free please ensure that you check your child’s hair each week. Thank you.
Have you recently changes your mobile contract? Changed jobs? Changed home
telephone provider? Moved? Please ensure you have updated the school with any
changes to your contact details. Thank you.
Please remember that non emergency den&st appointments, op&cians appointments, doctor appointments etc. should be made out of school &me. Every minute of every day counts
Please remember if your child is absent from school you must to ring school (0161 624 9885) each day
before 9:30am with details of why your child is absent from school. A note can be passed through the class teacher (for passing to the office through the register) but please do not leave verbal messages with teachers. If we do not hear from you via the absence line or a
le+er the absence will be recorded as an unauthorised absence which could lead to a fixed penalty noFce fine.
Term &me absences A pupil’s absence during term Fme can seriously disrupt their conFnuity of learning. Not only do they miss the teaching provided on the days they are away, they are also less prepared for subsequent lessons on their return. There is a consequent risk of underachievement.
We ask that all Parents/Carers make all rouFne appointments (denFst, opFcians etc.) outside of school Fme or in school holidays – non emergency appointments will be recorded as unauthorised absence. Any other medical appointments (specialist appointments, hospital appointments, emergency GP appointments etc.) if medical evidence (appointment le+er) is submi+ed will be recorded as an M – Medical appointment on your child’s a+endance record and does unfortunately adversely affect your child’s a+endance figure .
Parents / carers do not have a right to take their child out of school during term Fme. As a result family holidays should be planned during the school holidays. As of September 2013 the School Governors agreed that, in line with new law, no leave taken in term Fme would be authorised unless for a medical reason for the individual child (i.e. an operaFon) where medical evidence must be provided. In accordance with the Local Authority A+endance Policy, school will class any absences that meet the criteria as unauthorised absences and will refer for a Fixed Penalty NoFce fine. If your child will be absent for any reason that you know of in advance please put it in wri&ng to the Governors -‐ you will then be contacted with the decision as to whether the absence will be recorded as authorised or unauthorised.

Bring me sunshine!! While the sun is shining could we please ask you to ensure your child has sun cream applied each morning before school and that
they bring to school each day a sun hat/cap and a bo+le of water. Unfortunately we are unable to apply sun cream for children during the school day and ask that you do not send creams into school in your child’s bag. All creams must be self applied and need to be stored in the office.

about St Anne’s Care club, our church and we even have a Twi+er feed.
If your child is late into school please ensure that you enter school through the main recepFon door of the Junior building. This is to ensure your child has been put on the fire register and all children are accounted for in the event of an evacuaFon. Thank you.
Please ensure that all children are waiFng ready to enter school on Fme each morning. Late a+endance not only disrupts the start of the morning session but also causes unnecessary upset
to children that have to enter class late. Many thanks.
If a child is persistently late, this can create gaps in their educaFon and prevent them from reaching their full learning potenFal. It can also disrupt the classroom when lessons have already begun and cause unnecessary distress to the child that is late. Therefore, not only must a child a+end school regularly, but they must not be late. If your child arrives at school on at least 10 occasions aWer the registraFon period and is recorded as late aWer registraFon, you may incur a Fixed Penalty NoFce (fine).
With regard to absence, 96.5% is the expected level of a+endance that St Anne’s pupils should aim for. Persistent gaps in your child’s educaFon can have a serious impact on their educaFonal a+ainment. It is a parent’s legal responsibility to ensure the regular, full-‐Fme a+endance of their children. Failing to do this could lead to legal proceedings from the LA and a Penalty NoFce (fine) being issued. Parents do not have the legal right to take their child out of school on holiday during term Fme. Term-‐Fme holidays are no longer authorised and you will be issued a Penalty NoFce by the EducaFon A+endance Service and your child could lose their school place. RouFne medical appointments such as rouFne opFcians check up, denFst check ups etc. should not be taken during school Fme. Try to arrange such appointments in school holidays, or aWer school.
A+endance recorded at 96.5% -‐ Excellent. A+endance recorded at 95.1%-‐96.49% -‐ Good A+endance recorded at 94.24-‐95.09% -‐ Average A+endance recorded at 94.23% and below – Poor
AZendance recorded at 90% or below is classes as persistent absence Please feel free to discuss any concerns with your child’s aZendance with a member of staff. There may be support available to help secure an improvement in a child’s aZendance and we will assist you where we can.
Please ensure dinner money is paid in full each Monday. Dinners must be paid for in advance of them being taken. Thank you.
Fire registers Please ensure that all children are here at 8.55am, ready to enter school on Fme each morning. Doors will close at 9am promptly. Late a+endance not only disrupts the start of the morning session but can also be quite distressing to a child that has to enter class or an assembly late. If your child is late please bring him/her to the school office so they can be recorded on the fire register. This is a safeguarding measure to ensure all children are accounted for in the event of an emergency. Thank you.
Spor&ng Fun This Friday we are holding our Sports Day. Children can come into school in their sports wear/outdoor PE kits. Again, parents and carers are welcome to come and watch. Please send your child into school in football kits/outdoor PE kits. Children do not need to wear school inform on these days.
Moving up day On the 30th June we will be holding our Moving Up day. This is when your child will find out which class they are in next year and get the opportunity to know their next teacher. This is an important transiAonal Ame for our children and always lots of fun.
School holidays We have had a few queries in regards to our holiday dates. Some of our parents have been looking on various different websites and so therefore have the wrong holiday dates for St Anne’s. Please only use our website h+p://www.stannesroyton.oldham.sch.uk/ or informa&on provided directly from school (such as the back of each newsleZer, or lists that are sent by Parentmail) for our holiday dates. If you would like a full list of the holidays please see the office.

IMPORTANT changes to school dinners Commencing 6th June. We will need a full week’s no=ce if your child wants to start/stop having a school dinner. This is to allow forward planning for the kitchen staff to ensure enough food is prepared. You can either let the office know by sending a note in to class with your child, or by emailing [email protected] Unfortunately this means that we will also need to enforce that children will need to be on school meals each day and not pick individual days. Children in Recep&on to Yr2 are sFll currently eligible for a free school meal. This is not means tested. All infant children are enFtled to a free school meal. Children in Yr3 to Yr6 Dinners are charged at £10 a week which must be paid in advance. Dinners must be paid each Monday for the week ahead. You can either put your child's dinner money in an envelope labelled 'Dinner Money‘. Please ensure you put your child's name and class on the envelope too, or you can pay by Parentmail using a credit/debit card or paypal.

Parentmail PMX We are now using Parentmail PMX. Your old Parentmail account has now been disabled and you will need to verify your account by responding to the text message or email that you have received. Parentmail is a vital communicaFon tool that school use to keep in touch with Parents and Carers. We use Parentmail in a variety of ways: • TexFng when a club is cancelled • Emailing newsle+ers • Sending reminders of events • Paying of dinner money and trips The benefits of the new parentmail over the previous system are all of the above and the addiFons of the following: • Booking parents’ evening slots • Filling in forms online (no more need to print off forms) • New app for your smartphone or tablet – instant updates, emails etc right to your app • Absence reporFng facility on the app If you require further assistance please either visit the office or ring on 0161 624 9885 to discuss to opFon.
