Everywhere in the air begins to feel the breath of freshness mixed with the scent of the first petals. ... For the umpteenth time we wonder whether spring reminds us that we should show honor to somebody? As a noun, “honor” in the Bible means esteem, value, or great respect. It exhorts us to express respect and esteem toward people- our parents, our friends, the aged, the children, to love the brotherhood, fear God, to respect all other religions and hystorical memories. That is why our actions were colored with a honor toward women on the day of March 8th, with a color of friendship and fun, through joint outings and recreations. MONTHLY REPORT OF ACTION MARCH Dear Rotaractors, Early spring awakening March is the herald of spring. From the Editors

Each time brings new expectation, every friendship is a living episode, that expands the boundaries and horizons. I enrolled the PhD Biomedical Technology Studies in September, after receiving a scholarship from the Slovenian government, as a top-30 doctoral students in the country. My life came to the border between north and south. Great welcome honor I debit by the President of the RAC Maribor Matej Krampac and the other rotaractors brothers! RAC Maribor is in the district 1920. It has been char-tered in 2000. Club members are recognizable lead-ers in their fields from the social, humanitary and natural sciences, sport, but above all good friends! It was my great honor to attend the debate under the title "Networking" (Umrezivanje), where the District Governor of Slovenia was also attended and ex-plained the moral principles of Rotary , contained in the Four-way test as well as the global objective of Rotary Foundation, the morals and ethics of friend-ship. In this year Maribor has been nominated as the European Cultural Capital, and next year it will be the European capital of youths. I hope that young people will bring GOODWILL and BETTER FRIEND-SHIPS leading also to the good coop-eration between our districts.

Jovana Perovic visited Hague

In the land of tulips and wind-mills

When you think about the Nether-

lands, the first things on your mind are probably tulips, windmills, clogs, Rem-brandt, Vincent van Gogh, “The Diary of Anne Frank" and other well-known sights of this country. In the modern history, at the end of 20th century, this Western-European country became a home of many international judicial institutions, judges, experts and lawyers, specialized in the area of International Criminal Law and International Humanitarian Law. Organi-zation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Mission to Serbia, sup-ported by the Embassy of Netherlands or-ganized visit of students from Serbia to this international institutions in the Hague. The goal of this visit was to help young people interested in International Criminal Law to learn something more and to get more experience. One of them was our friend Jovana Perović, Secretary of the Rotaract Club “Niš-Constantine the Great”, law student who won the third place on Tenth Serbian Moot Court Competition in International Humanitarian Law.

From the Editors

It is organized every year by the National

Society of the Red Cross and the International Committee of the Red Cross and got the chance to participate in Jean Pictet Competition.

During her visit, Jovana had an opportu-nity to learn something more about Interna-tional Criminal Court (ICC), established by an international treaty (the Rome Statute) which has now 120 countries as parties and Serbia is one of them. The Court organized the presenta-tion on the ICC by a representative of the Presi-dency, Chambers of Registry and representative of the Office of the Prosecutor. Students also vis-ited the Courtrooms and got more explanations.

At the end of the first day of visiting the Hague, Jovana and rest of the Serbian dele-gation had a reception at the Serbian Em-bassy. The Ambassador and the First Secre-tary of the Embassy, Saša Obradović, also known as the Agent of Serbia before the ICJ (International Court of Justice) received them and explained the cases of Serbia be-fore the ICJ. International Court of Justice is one of the organs of UN which is situated also in the Hague in the “Peace Palace”, pal-ace where League of Nations was estab-lished .

During one week visit students also visited International Court of Justice and Special Tribunal for Lebanon (the first in-ternational court with jurisdiction over the crime of terrorism in times of peace). The most exciting visit for Jovana was the visit of International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), established on 25th May 1993, by resolution of the UN

Security Council.

She could improve her knowledge and

professional ethic by conversation and lectures of Trial Attorneys, Defence Counsel, Legal Offi-cers and Judges. The great honor for visitors was the reception of Mr. Serge Brammertz , the Prosecutor of ICTY who wanted to know more about them, their plans for future and their opinion about the Tribunal. The unforgettable thing for our young rotaractor is certainly the trials (case “Karadžić” and closing arguments in the case “Šešelj”).

During her visit to The Hague, Jovana

also managed to take some time to visit Ro-tary Club “Hague Metropolitan” the first in-ternational Rotary Club in the Netherlands. They have 35 members, from 20 nations; in-cluding a number of Ambassadors, Interna-tional Court Judges, and representatives of International Organisations/Corporations. Jovana was their guest during the dinner and she presented her Club and her Country, exchanged the banners with their president, made valuable contacts and discussed possi-ble future cooperation between two Clubs.

Rotarians were glad because they had

guest from one Rotaract club. They are plan-ing to organise first International Rotaract club and it wice be a pleasure for them to have friends in some other RI district.

This was unforgettable experience for

Jovana as a future young lawyer, she could do improve her knowledge but also promote her Rotaract club and Rotary community .

.Gerontology Center Novi Sad. Goal: Bring joy and happiness to our senior female citizens for International Women’s Day. Early in the morning of March 8th our Club members visited the Ger-ontology Center Novi Sad to give our female elders greeting cards for International Women’s Day that are contained in greeting cards and candy. None of them ex-pected that we will remember them and they were at least en-thusiastic. We elicited a lot of smiles that morning and some tears of joy. All of us, who participated in this ac-tion, came up with a broad smile on our face and with the idea that we will soon again visit and de-light them in some other way.

City of Nis just got a new cin-ema and what better way to declare the cinema season open than to go together with our youngest friends and watch “Professor Vujic’s hat”.

PLACE: Regional Center for Education GOAL: Honoring Rotaract Week Rotaract Club “Nis – Constan-tine the Great” has always been opened for cooperation. Honor-ing the Rotaract Week, we an-swered the call of our friendly Rotaract Club Sofia-Vitosha, D2482 Bulgaria and their President Ms. Vasilena Dran-chovska to participate in their international project “Martenitza”. Each March they organize a workshop where they get together and make specific chaplets they call “Martenitza”. Martenitzas are in Rotaract colors and are given to children or sold for fundrais-ing. RTC Sofia-Vitosha sends requests and instructions to other Clubs in the region to participate in their project. Each Club that agrees to par-ticipate needs to take photos of its members making Martenit-zas. Naturally, we agreed to participate and invited our In-teract Club to help us in mak-ing the chaplets. Needless to say, we all had a lot of fun.

PLACE: Safe home for chil-dren from the street GOAL: Honoring Rotaract Week Lucky are those who have enough to

spare and share with those less fortu-

nate. Noble are those that do. We at

Rotaract Club “Nis – Constantine

the Great” are grateful to have had

such an opportunity to help some-

one. And who is in more dire need

than the children who have to spend

their on the street. Mr. Bosko Alek-

sic recognized the necessity to find a

place for those children to come to,

shelter and spend some quality time.

However, they are in constant need

for attention. And this was our guide

for Local Community Service Ave-

nue. We bought them a certain

amount of computer exuipment, do-

nated clothes and food. Children

from the Home and our Club mem-

bers enjoyed each other’s company,

painting and playing together, with

refreshments and snacks, which con-

tributed to a great atmosphere and a

probable future cooperation.

International Tribune for War Crimes in

The Hague, the Netherlands for Jovana

Perovic and her visit to local Rotary Club

GOAL: Honoring Rotaract Week International Criminal Tribunal for the for-

mer Yugoslavia, The Hague, the Netherlands

We at Rotaract Club “Nis – Constantine the

Great” take Vocational Service very seri-

ously and do our best to be professional on

our everyday workplaces and represent our

Club worthily. We think that the best way to

promote your Club in your local community

is to do your best to be the best at your job.

This is why we are proud to share with our

national Rotaract community that our Club

Secretary Jovana Perovic visited the Interna-

tional Criminal Tribunal for the former

Yugoslavia (ICTY), International Court for

Justice (ICJ) and Special Tribunal for Leba-

non in The Hague, Netherlands as the Best

Student of Faculty of Law in Nis, and winner

of national competition in Criminal law.

That way, Jovana showed exceptional pro-

fessional ethics and standards, which we

think promote in best possible way the idea

of Rotary and our Club as well. The whole

event was organized by Organization for Se-

curity and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).

Jovana, along with the rest of the Serbian

delegation had a reception at the Serbian

Embassy.

During her visit to The Hague,

Jovana also managed to take some time to

visit Rotary Club Hague where she presented

our Club and our Country, made valuable

contacts and discussed possible future coop-

eration between our two Clubs.

First look at the camels Look again! Amazing, isn’t it? ;-)

We are expecting that images of the desert are usually full of illusions. Please look at the camels, and then read the message below. This photo was taken directly from the National Geographic. The photo was made above the camels dur-ing the sunset. It should be declared as one of the finest images. When you look carefully, you can realize that black camels are not real camels, the camels are the small white lines in the picture! Black camels are their shadows. Look again! Amazing, is not it? I wonder whether it happened in our real life? How do you see somebody when you fall in love? Of course as a big and powerful. Is it always true? Isn’t he /she in your eyes as a black camel (despite of his/her real quality)? Or otherwise, when you hate and disparage somebody, isn’t she/he looks as a white camel (despite of his/her real quality). Sometimes, we make our idols much bigger than they actually are, creating a large shadow over them. However, they are often much smaller than we think. Let's try to be real and to see persons or problems from another-real angle .
