One of the biggest goals we have had since founding Omega Mu was to one day have a house that can compete with the rest of the Greek organization here at OSU. Since our spontaneous startup in 2012 we have maintained chapter headquarters in a 6-bedroom house on Greek row. As of June, we are proud to now call the similar 6 bedroom house next door ours as well, giving us ownership of the corner of the block right on Greek Row. These houses show our growth as an organization and it gives us a chance to put our letters on display for everyone to see. Although the houses have a rich history and have been through the ringer a few times we have made excellent strides to make these houses into a place where anyone can come hangout, study, or just unwind.

Greek Town Grill Down On April 12, 2014, the brothers of Delta Kappa Epsilon Omega Mu chapter paired up with the sisters of Kappa Kappa Gamma to host the first annual Greek Town Grill Down philanthropy event. This event consisted of a grill competition between fraternities on Oklahoma States Campus, as well as a baked goods contest among participating sororities. Our event was originally designed to benefit DKE and KKG’s national philanthropies, however when tragedy struck over Spring Break and a member of Greek Life was killed by a drunk driver, DKE and KKG decided to change directions. “Who else is going to support our own Greek family and neighbors in a time of tragedy if it doesn’t start right here in Stillwater” said President Matt Hester. Proceeds, which totaled over $6,500, were given to the Kasey Waychoff scholarship; an endowment started by OSU’s Gamma Phi sorority for their lost sister. The event idea was created by Omega Mu’s designated ‘Grill Master’ (elected officer) August Evers in 2013. Greek Town Grill Down featured partnerships with local restaurants Louie’s Grill and Brooklyn’s, who each made charitable donations in the form of pasta salad, broccoli salad, coleslaw and fresh fruit. Kyler Page also worked out a deal with a local food distribution company to supply surplus burgers, and even a cash donation. Entertainment was provided by a local performer and a local band that performed on stage as a charitable donation. Over 800 tickets were sold and OSU’s IFC and PanHellenic Council supported the event. President Matt Hester, Grill Master August Evers and Philanthropy Chair Kyler Page led the organization of our first successful campus and Greek wide philanthropy. KKG’s philanthropy chair Paige Albert, president Katie Gilman, and event chair Angie McGowan also helped contribute countless hours of preparation. This was a fantastic first philanthropy event for our Omega Mu chapter, and we see a promising future in the upcoming years for Greek Town Grill Down.

Brag About Our Boys

Andrew Noel, our very founding president, is pleased to announce he has been accepted into the Stanford Graduate School of Business to pursue an MBA, and will be deferring enrollment to gain 2 years of business experience. Following his acceptance into the program, he has made excellent strides to climb the business ladder and has been a part of a couple new business ideas. His future looks very bright and we cannot wait to brag on all of his future success.

One of our new members, Luke Blansett, along with his band members of The Hideouts have released their newest record through Tiger Heart Recording. The album titled Home is a Pop Rock/Country mix inspired by classic Rock n’ roll and 80’s Hair Metal is promised to give the listeners a spice to their life. You can check out the band and more information at www.hideoutsmusic.com.

Brian Andrews, an Omega Mu Senior is in the process of creating our new Delta Kappa Epsilon Omega Mu website. Programing from scratch is turning out to take quite some time but the work he is putting into it and the potential use to provide up to date information with our chapter will be huge.

Total Members 56 Total Current Actives 42 Projected 2014 Pledge Class 18 GPA 3.254

Omega Mu is currently ranked 5th among 23 fraternities at Oklahoma State according to the chapters grade point average. Starting in the spring of 2013 at a 2.85, we raised it to a 3.05 by the fall of 2013 and are now proud to announce our increasing GPA to 3.25. The semester was filled with late nights at the library and we are pleased to see the increase. This has been a much-celebrated achievement and we couldn’t of done it without the combined support of the brotherhood.
