Thanks to the leadership and dedication of our present Colonel Commandant LGen Michael Jeffery (Retd) and Col Doug Briscoe (Retd) and their team of volunteers, this successful campaign raised almost $1,500,000 for the RCA Museum and was the beginning of an endowment fund to provide for future needs of the Regimental Family. Our past Colonel Commandant BGen Ernie Beno (Retd) and, before him, MGen John Arch Maclnnis (Retd) have played leading roles in moving us ahead with our conception of the Regimental family and in providing for it through the RCA Heritage Program and Campaign. The purpose of the Royal Canadian Artillery (RCA) Heritage Program IS to celebrate our heritage, enable those who serve today, and secure the future for those to come. We are re-launching the RCA Heritage Campaign formally on St Barbara’s Day, 4 December 2011. Our aim is to raise the monies necessary to support the activities of the RCA Heritage Program. We are very grateful to LGen Jan Arp (Retd) who has taken on the role of National Chair with Col Joe Culligan (Retd), as the National Director. We are also grateful to all the others who have volunteered their services in various ways as we prepared to re-launch and, indeed, to those others who will join us as we move forward with the Campaign. Not all of our leadership team is in place and we are actively seeking members of the Regimental Family who are willing to contribute: ideas (what should we be doing); time (if you have a background in communications or marketing or would just like to help, we would love to talk) and, of course, those who can make donations, which are necessary to fund the projects in the plan. To date, in our pre-launch quiet campaign we have raised a total of $211,810 from members of the RCA Family and friends. Celebrating our Heritage;Securing the Future

Many Gunners will recall the Heritage Campaign, begun a number of years ago. Thanks to theleadership and dedication of our present Colonel Commandant LGen Michael Jeffery (Retd) and ColDoug Briscoe (Retd) and their team of volunteers, this successful campaign raised almost $1,500,000 forthe RCA Museum and was the beginning of an endowment fund to provide for future needs of theRegimental Family.

Over the next seven years, to 1Apr11 2018, we will need to raise approximately $1.75 million to fund theexciting projects listed below and to provide some additional endowment funds to help to guaranteefunding for worthwhile projects benefitting the Royal Regiment and its members, serving and retired,reserve and regular.

Heritage includes conscious effort to nurture the broad Regimental Family institution, to celebrate ourHeritage and to Connect with our fellow Canadians. That is what we are working on today. The story ofthe Regiment is part of Heritage but it is only one piece. We must also look to the serving soldier andfamilies of the present and to the future. Thus: Celebrating our Heritage; Securing the Future.

Our projects and other undertakings are broad. You can see a description of them on the regimentalweb site. They include:

• Expansion of our Bursary program to help us make post secondary education more

affordable for families and youth

• Statue of Major John McCrae, artillery officer and author, on the centenary of his poem

in Flanders’ Fields - 2015

• Volume Ill The Gunners of Canada recording the Regimental history from 1967 to thepresent

• With a Few Guns, recording the history of the RCA in Afghanistan

• 100 Gunners - junior soldiers, 4 or 5 from each unit - to Vimy Ridge to take part inceremonies marking the centenary of the great Canadian battle in 2017.

• Development of the RCA Museum and Reserve Museums & Outreach Programs
