thOn 12 May 2017, the EU reclassified 'creamed coconuts', generally intended for use in the kitchen in the preparation of sauces and other foodstuff. The EU classified the product under CN Code 20081990 ruling it out from chapter 8 because of pasteurization. Later 'pasteurization' was replaced by 'moderate heat treatment' and hence the change of classification is deleted. The original classification of the product under heading 0801 shall be considered. The regulation shall enter into

stforce on 1 June 2017.

thOn 10 May 2017, the EU Commission released a white paper discussing the benefits and negatives of globalization, and how the EU can better harness the positive aspects of international trade. Globalization has lifted hundreds of millions of people out of poverty and helped poorer countries to prosper, due to the increased free access to markets and cooperation in science and innovation. The challenges however, are that Europeans are concerned globalisation leads to inequality, job losses, social injustice, or lowering environmental, health or privacy standards.

thOn 8 May 2017, the EU released statements from the EU Commissioner for Trade Malmström during her trip to Mexico. The Commissioner visited several European factories and met with Mexican government officials. The Commissioner released the goal of having a trade deal concluded by year's end. The new deal will simplify administrative burdens, cut red tape, boost growth and competitiveness, widen consumer choice and create jobs on both sides.

thOn 8 May 2017, the Italian Parliament published a report concerning the import, export and transit of defence-related materials and some relevant statistical data on the number of authorizations issued by the competent authority, the Ministry of Economic Development (MiSE) for the exportation of dual use items. Furthermore, 21 EU General Export Authorizations and 12 National General Export Authorisations were issued by MiSE.
