It was a great occasion with past pupils and ex-teachers enjoying a tour of the college and trips down memory lane. CONGRATULATIONS Congratulations to Michael Savery (year 9) for achieving a Distinction in the follow-on round of the Intermediate Maths Challenge, which is called the Cayleigh Olympiad. Michael was presented with his certificate, medal and a book, in assembly last week. CONGRATULATIONS Congratulations to Imogen Brown(10BLS) and Katie Constable (10PLMC) who successfully completed the Ten Tors Challenge on Dartmoor last weekend walking 35 miles over two days. The commitment to the training and the sheer determination shown by the girls has been incredible. Imogen and Katie should be very proud of their achievement. They have been training over the past 7 months in some appalling weather conditions including snow on the Black Mountains and torrential rain on Dartmoor. They both walked in different teams with scouts, guides and explorers with youngsters they had never met before. The whole experience has been amazing for them. RESEARCH STUDY WITH PART-TIME WORKING MOTHERS Is your youngest child at secondary school (aged 11-16)? Did you work full-time before having children? Are you working part-time, having predominantly done so since having children? If this is you, and you might be willing to give up some time to tell me your stories about part-time working and mothering, please do get in touch. I am a mature PhD student at Bath University and am also a mother who has worked part-time for 10 years. Email me (Fiona MacGill) at [email protected] or phone 07801 847134 and I will fill you in further about the study.

ATTENDANCE LINE Please ring as early as possible on the first day your child is absent from college. Tel: 0117 377 2228 Always give your child a note to give to their tutor when they return to college following an illness.

WISE WORDS! I remind myself every morning: Nothing I say this day will teach me anything. So, if I am going to learn, I must do it by listening.

E-SAFETY TIP: Talk to your child about who they are adding to the buddy lists online. Lots of young people compete with their friends to see who can have the most ‘friends’ in their buddy lists so they will add people they don’t know in the real world.
