Joe Joyce who left St Bedes in 2010 has been selected

to play for the under 18 England Rugby Squad. Joe

who is currently studying at Filton College is an

exceptional player who brought great credit to St

Bedes in his time here. We are sure he will now dothe same in the England team.

    REMINDER TO CLEVEDON PUPILS

If you are in Year 8 and above and would like to be

prepared for the sacrament of Confirmation in year 8

and above, please contact Fr Reg via the parish office.

    Bin Bag Catwalk

On Tuesday and Thursday lunchtime, pupils took part

in our chaplaincy Bin Bag Catwalk. As it was poverty

and homelessness action week, the catwalk outfits

were a creative way of using rubbish, to help us think

differently about people who have nothing and have

to sleep on the streets. It was an amazing success and

lots of fun. The range of different outfits created was

incredible. Thank you to everyone who came along to

design, model and support the event and for making it

    such a great success!

    OFF TO A FLYING START

Since October 14 keen pupils have been putting their

aviation skills to the test. With the help of engineers from

Airbus coming into school weekly, our children built

hand-gliders and the target was to fly the glider as far as

possible with no mechanical assistance, just the power in

    your arm.

The Flying Start Challenge, a competition supported by

businesses was held between other schools in the area.

We had a fantastic day at the Final this week. All planes

    flew really well

    and one of the

    groups came

    second in the

    presentation part

    for the gliders. All

    in all, a very good

    experience.

    CLASS REUNION

If you were in the class of 1986 you are invited to the

reunion which is being held at St Bedes on 28th

    April

2012. There will be a buffet, bar and 80s disco. For further

information please email Sheridan Newman at

[email protected] by 30th March. The

tickets are only available to pupils who attended St Bedes

between 1981-86 and the cost will be 15.00 (to cover the

cost of the disco and buffet.

    Ski Party Depart for USA

This morning 52 children and 5 staff left the snow in theWest to find deeper snow in Killington USA for the annual

week long ski trip. There was huge excitement as the

coaches were loaded in the freezing cold of the morning.

Pupils will spend 5 days on the slopes and the last day in

New York before flying home next Saturday. We pray

they will have a wonderful and safe holiday.

    Stages

A group of Year 9 pupils represented St Bedes on Saturday

at the Colston Hall. After practicing hard for the past few

weeks, they got the opportunity to perform in front of a

large audience. The girls loved sorting their make-up and

costumes and performed exceptionally well on the day.

    Pay Day Loans

I was astonished to find out the other day that some TV

publicised money lenders charge as much as 125.48

interest on 400 for 30 days. This is just a staggering rate

of interest. Below you will find details of the credit unions

    in Bristol, for your information.

    E-SAFETY TIP

Keep an eye on the material your children are looking at

online, regularly check the computer history folder and

you should certainly question your child if it has been

emptied. If they know they could be checked up on at any

time, they will think more responsibly about how they use

    the internet.

    SPORT RESULTS

Girls Junior Basketball Reach County Finals

    Having come 2nd

in the Bristol Finals the week before, theYear 8/9 girls basketball team went to the county finals.

In the group stages they overcame John Cabot 36-21 and

Backwell 32-13. In the final they faced Ashton Park for

the second time. With some excellent basketball played,

it came down to the last few seconds. Unfortunately, it

did not go their way and they lost 32-34. Well done girls.
