RENoticeboard CanteenCalendar
Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you to the P&F for their wonderful P&F disco and fundraiser. Over $1,000 was raised for the benefit of our students! I congratulate and sincerely thank the parents for their attendance as it really does make it a community event and a successful one at that.
First Semester reports have been sent home today with each child. I would like to express my appreciation to the entire staff ; your efforts in the generation of these reports demonstrated your ability to work as a team, your commitment to hold each other to account for the benefit of our community, and your immense school pride. On behalf of the students and parents, I offer my sincere gratitude. I also feel it necessary to thanks Ms Moore for coordinating these efforts.
While we are very happy with our reporting process, it is unfortunate that a very small number of reports did not print with the pristine quality as the others. Having said this, the document is completely legible and is not unsightly in any way. The reason for this is a technical issue. The printer will be serviced on Monday morning and should anyone require a pristine copy we are more than pleased to offer this. Just let the off ice know. We can also provide the report as a digital PDF f ile should this be preferable.
Next term will see the commencement of our Mini Mary?s transition class. The class will operate on Wednesdays from 8.45 to 3:05pm as per all classes. The transition teacher is Mrs Rebecca Bentley. This program is for students that wil l be at tending Kindergarten in 2018 and as such, entry to Mini Mary?s is achieved by completing the 2018 kindergarten enrolment process. Please contact the off ice for an enrolment form or download one from our moodle page. Once the Kindergarten 2018 enrolment application is received, entry is granted to Mini Mary?s. An interview is then arranged between the Principal and the parents to discuss the 2018 enrolment application and the observations made by staff in the f irst weeks of the Mini Mary?s. At the completion of this interview an orientation pack will be provided to ensure the transition from Mini Mary?s into Kindergarten is as smooth as possible.
There is plenty to tell the community about our learning developments, particularly coding. Mrs Cannon will be completing an online course allowing her to teach coding in classrooms as well as being in the classrooms providing instructions in a variety of technology and research skills. The school is truly entering a very exciting period and I encourage all community members to come along for the ride.
God Bless
Frank

Holy Communion
The children will be preparing for Holy Communion shortly. There will be a registration form that will be sent home next week. Please f il l out the form and send it back to the off ice before the end of term.
Interested in becoming a Cathol ic?
The Rite of Christian Init iation of Adults (the RCIA) is a journey that we offer to take with adults from the age of 15 years and older who are seriously thinking about becoming a Catholic.
An information night will be held on 16 August at the Parish off ice at 7:00pm.
The RCIA journey will begin in August and, if the candidate feels ready to commit, reaches its highpoint at the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday night, when the candidate is either baptised or received into the church. The RCIA journey continues for another couple of months ending around Pentecost Sunday.
The RCIA involves formation and prayer together with other candidates and your sponsor every week with a break for school holidays. Towards the end of the journey, as we enter into Lent, there will also be a short retreat.
If this is what you have been looking for, or if you know someone else who is interested, please contact Sandra in the Parish off ice - 66439017 to leave your contact details.
Would you like to altar serve?
Fr Fred will be hold an altar server workshop, for existing and new servers, in the near future. To be a new altar server, you need to be baptised Catholic between the ages of 8 and 18 years.
Any girl or boy interested in being trained as an altar server is asked to contact Fr Fred or Sandra at the Parish Off ice for an application form.
God bless,
Tarnya Jones

Stage 3 News
Stage 3
During term two in stage three we have been analysing Informative texts. Students have had opportunities to examine the forms and features of informative texts to determine their purpose and where these types of texts are found and used in everyday life.
Throughout this process students have examined the way texts are presented and informative components such as diagrams, graphs, tables are used to enhance clarity.
Students are currently working on ?My Dream Job?. Their task is to write an informative text about what they want to do when they leave school and the reasons why they have chosen this path. Students are researching their chosen career path and explaining what they?ll need to do to achieve this goal.

2017 Athlet ics Carnival
A wonderful day was enjoyed by students, staff , parents and members of our school community at last week?s athletics carnival. We were blessed with a beautiful sunny day and it was fantastic to see students of all ages participate with joy and passion in an attempt to gain points for their school house.
I wish to pass on a big thank you to the St Mary?s staff for their exuberance and effort on the day. Without their wonderful support, the day would not have been the success it was. A big thank you also to class parents Belinda Chapman and Kellie Vereyken for the organisation of the pizza lunch and Peta Ryder, Bree
Hiatt and Bernice Pitt for their provisioning of the loll ie stall.
Congratulations to all our age champions from the day.
We also wish good luck to the students who have qualif ied for the Clarence Zone Carnival. These students will represent St Mary?s at the zone carnival in Coffs Harbour on Friday 28 July.
