    o hone the writing and pub-lishing skills o budding writers, Dr.Jecel D. aray, a school paper adviserrom Patin-ay National High School,Agusan del Sur spearheaded thisyears Regional Schools Press Con-

    erence Collaborative Desktop Pub-lishing (CDP) contest, November 27. Around 350 journalists rom12 division in Caraga region namely:Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur,Bayugan City, Bislig City, ButuanCity, Cabadbaran City, Dinagat Is-land, Siargao, Surigao City, Surigaodel Norte, Surigao del Sur and and-ag City participated in the contest. He highlighted on the note thatelementary contestants are to useMS Publisher as their sofware pro-

    gram while the secondary contest-ants are aided by Adobe Indesign. Te contests objective isto publish a our page newsletterwhich included news page, editorialpage, eature page and sports page.

    aray also discussed thebasics in desktop publishing and alsogave tips to guide the contestants.Moreover, basic knowledge on sportswriting, eature writing, news writingand editorial writing were revisited. He challenged all teamsto apply and show their skills and di-erent techniques in page lay-outing. Tis competition will serve as thebasis in choosing the best team that hasthe potential to represent the regionto the National, aray Concluded.

    GIVING INFORMATION. Dr.Isidro M. Biol talks about the im-

    plementing of Senior High School.

    In order to orient campus journalists and ob-serving school paper advisers, Dr. Isidro M. Biol Jr., re-gional journalism coordinator, spearheaded a coner-ence on the ull implementation o the senior high schoolhere at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall, this morning. Te conerence aimed to provide orthe implementing rules and guidelines in the ullblast implementation o the senior high schoolwhich is expected to take ull effect this 2016. Te Philippines, although, undeni-ably seemed to be crippled with some acili-ties and equipments, but the K-12 implemen-tation cannot be daunted, stressed Dr. Biol.

    He also mentioned some o theschools who will be the pilot schools and willserve as testing schools who are to offer vari-ous vocational, technical and academic cours-

    es geared towards the basic aims o the Education For All (EFA) scheme. We may seem to be not ready or this, but since we orm part o the educative pro-cess o the Department o Education (DepEd), we have to embrace this change, he concluded.

    Surigao del Sur. A place patronized by manybecaus e o f i ts beauty and wonder Tandag Cit y. Excitement is what we felt when it wasannoun ced tha t the Reg ional School s Pre ss Con -fer enc e (RSPC) 2014 wi ll be hel d in TandagCity. Finally, we will have a chance to visit theamazing pla ce of Tandag . However, arriving here was like a rollercoaster ride for us. At first, we were full of happinessand ene rgy . Suddenly , ci rcums tan ces att ack ed u s li kea rol ler coa ste r, someth ing wen t wrong in the machinewhich caused it to stop and we stocked us in the middleof a zigzagging road. Excitement faded away and it was re-

    pla ced by fea r. Afraid tha t we won t be abl e to par -ticipate to the RSPC. Our minds were full ofque sti ons and neg ati ve tho ugh ts. We sta rte d to los eour hope. But our school paper advisers encouragedus and did their best to supersede our negative thoughts.They served as our mechanic; they were like the mech-

    ani sm of the rol ler coast er , they did the ir bes t to fix

    our worried emotions and trembling hearts. They dideverything to make our journey to Tandag possible. Indeed, our prayers were answered andal l the hard wor k was wor thy . Kind-hea rte d per son shel ped us inc lud ing our ci ty gov ernmen t who pro vid edus vehicle so that we can reach Tandag. Like in theroller coaster, the problem in the machines was fixed. By all odds, we are able to participatethe Regional Schools Press Conference and weare her e now tes tif ying the beauti fu l ci ty of Tandag .Though it was almost impossible for us to be here, dueto our drained finances, but with the help and enduringass ist anc e of the peo ple who bel ie ved in us, now e areher e.

    Surely, coming here to Tandag was afea t aga ins t al l odd s. But we do not reg ret a sin -gl e thi ng. For thi s new exp er ien ce , sur ely wi ll etc hepisodes of memories into our minds and will surelycontribute to our growth not only as a campus journalistbut als o as Fil ipi no ci tiz ens tra ver sin g to the wonder -fu l w ork s o f natu re.

    Nonito Filipino Flash Donaire was deeated bythe Jamaican pride Nicholas Walters, via echnical Knock-

    out (KO) in round six, in the World Boxing Association(WBA) World Featherweight Championship, October 19. Donaire owned the first two rounds o the fight.He fired accurate jabs diminishing the opportunity or Wal-ters to perorm an explosive counter attack.
